The Israel-Hamas war has certainly been a quandary for President Joe Biden as he tries to find a happy medium between supporting our ally in the Middle East and appeasing a Democratic base full of voters, especially young people, who have become increasingly less supportive. Muslim-American and Arab-American voters and even White House staffers are also looking to turn on the president, as has been a story since just days following the October 7 terrorist attack that Hamas perpetrated against Israel.
The liberal mainstream media hasn't helped very much, including and especially with NBC News' "exclusive" reporting from Tuesday of how "White House interns demand a Middle East cease-fire in letter to Biden." Our sister site of Twitchy highlighted how it means "NBC Continues Being A Joke."
EXCLUSIVE: White House interns say Biden has “ignored” the “pleas of the American people” on Israel-Hamas in letter to POTUS & VPOTUS demanding a ceasefire.https://t.co/aO236JRiDN via @NBCNews
— Jonathan Allen (@jonallendc) December 6, 2023
The letter, first shared with NBC News, is filled with anti-Israel narratives, which includes blaming tragedies in America on Israel. It claims in part that "the ongoing violence perpetuated by the Israeli government, as well as the ongoing dehumanizing rhetoric targeting Muslims and Arabs, has promoted a wave of massive violence and tragedies, including the brutal shooting of three Palestinian students in Vermont..."
As we covered at the time, protesters at Brown University late last month went with that same exact narrative went with at a vigil for one of the 20-year-old young men shot. Police, however, indicated they were still investigating if it was a hate crime.
While the letter does claim the interns "were horrified by the brutal October 7th Hamas attack on Israeli civilians," that same sentence then goes on to lament how they "are horrified by the brutal and genocidal response by the Israeli government, funded by our American tax dollars." Such a point suggests that Israel does not have the right to respond.

In case the rest of the letter isn't bad enough, the interns lay out their demands with even more insistence in their final paragraph, with added emphasis to highlight just how truly anti-Israel their claims are:
While the Administration expressed support for the humanitarian pause, we maintain that anything other than a complete halt of Israel's mass slaught of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip will simply not suffice. We urge the Biden-Harris Administration to call for a permanent ceasefire now, a release of all hostages including Palestinian political prisoners, and to support a diplomatic solution that will put an end to the illegal occupation and the Israeli apartheid, in accordance with international law and for a free Palestine.
What the interns are doing is equating not just men, but also women, children, and the elderly who have been held hostage by Hamas with those jailed for crimes such as attempted murder. They're also going for buzzwords such as "illegal occipation" and "apartheid," despite their lack of truth and merit.
The opening of the report from Jonathan Allen, who also posted about it, not only shows what a serious situation this is, but also how unserious NBC News is for legitimizing this anti-Israel crusade from interns who can't be bothered to sign their names:
WASHINGTON — A group of White House interns joined the growing list of administration officials applying internal pressure to President Joe Biden to call for a permanent cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, sending him a letter late Tuesday that accuses him of having "ignored" the "pleas of the American people."
The letter, first shared with NBC News and addressed to Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, is supported by more than 40 interns who work in the White House and other executive branch offices, according to the text.
...
Biden's support for Israel's military campaign has brought sharp criticism from some in the progressive wing of his party, including threats to abandon him in the 2024 election, and calls from inside his administration to lean more heavily on Israel to halt its offensive. The interns' letter amplifies those concerns.
When it comes to these anonymous interns too cowardly to sign their actual names, Allen highlights how the letter begins by pointing to bit more on their characteristics. "The writers, like those at other agencies who have sent similar missives in recent weeks, declined to sign their names to the letter. Instead, they identified themselves by offices — including the Executive Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President and the Domestic Policy Council — and as 'Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, Black, Asian, Latine [sic], White, and Queer.'" It never ceases to amaze how people who identify as "Queer" are too ignorant to acknowledge the hatred that Hamas has not just for Jews, but for the LGBT community, and how they would not be welcome in Gaza.
Allen's report does little to counter the letter's claims, other than to cite those in the Biden administration who deserve credit where credit is due for shutting down anti-Israel talking points, especially during White House briefings. This includes making mention of how National Security Council spokesman John Kirby set the record straight that Israel is not the side committing genocide in this fight. That would be Hamas committing genocide.
For the second time in 10 days, White House National Security Spokesperson John Kirby makes the position of the White House and the United States government clear: Israel is not engaged in genocide, but Hamas has engaged in genocide.

Kirby has also repeatedly cautioned that any numbers provided by Hamas or "Palestinian officials" cannot be trusted, as he has done from the start.
Another voice of reason from this White House has been National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. "Right now, Hamas is refusing to release civilian women who should nave been part of the agreement. And it is that refusal by Hamas that has caused the end of the hostage agreement and, therefore, an end to the pause in hostilities," he explained during Monday's press briefing.
While the ignorant interns spend all of their energy going after Israel in this letter, it was Hamas that ended the ceasefire. Not only did they refuse to release the female hostages, but they also had attacked people in Jersualem.

And again, this letter isn't the only form of rebellion from those opposed to Biden evidently being too supportive of Israel. "Last month, more than 500 political appointees sent Biden a similar letter. They also declined to make their names public. In the three weeks since then, Israel paused its offensive to allow for exchanges of prisoners and some of the hostages taken by Hamas and then relaunched its assaults when talks over further releases broke down," Allen continued.
This isn't the only example, however, as to how such influencers wannabe ones have been granted far too big a platform when it comes to this White House. You'll recall how they do rely on TikTok influencers after all, which may be why the efforts to ban the app may not be so successful. In other words, NBC is a joke for giving this story so much attention, but we can't underestimate the Biden White House's ability to take these whiny young people way too seriously, even when it comes to something as serious as foreign policy when it comes to our ally in the Middle East.
Biden is so old and so out of it, though, that these interns may have more influence than we'd like to believe. The same goes for those TikTok influencers, who may now be turning on the White House. It doesn't help that the Biden administration has been less than supportive of Israel, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Vice President Kamala Harris effectively saying Israel has to show restraint. As I've pointed out before when covering as to if Congress will ever agree on aid for Israel, by the time it does get approved, not only could it be tied to other legislative priorities, but it might even be conditioned.
In the weeks that have followed the conclict, Biden increasingly expressed support for a ceasefire, just as he signaled he'd veto legislation that was a standalone bill supporting Israel rather than one tied to aid for Ukraine. The pressure campaign could very well get to this president.
While the letter opens by claiming that the signers "are not the decision makers of today, but we aspire to be the leaders of tomorrow," these interns could be running the show more than they let on.
It's worth pointing to the very much not surprising poll from last month that Yahoo!/YouGov released showing that 54 percent of Americans believe that Biden has been "mostly passive," while just 28 percent believe he's been "mostly in charge."
