Democrat MP Charlie Angus, a vocal critic of Musk, has also backed the petition, which had garnered over 34,000 signatures from across Canada by Saturday evening, according to Canadian outlet CTV News.

The petition calls on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to cancel Musk’s citizenship and Canadian passport.

Musk was born in South Africa. He holds Canadian citizenship through his mother, who was born in Regina, Saskatchewan.
