On Tuesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held a hearing about the border crisis’ impact on public safety in the United States. In the hearing, members of law enforcement shared how the Biden administration has made it increasingly difficult to remove criminal illegal aliens.
At the beginning of the hearing, Rep. Glenn Grotham (R-WI) noted that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) docket has 617,000 aliens with criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
“One would think that being a criminal illegal alien at a minimum would make someone an enforcement priority. But it is not under the Biden administration,” he said. “Sanctuary jurisdictions work to make our country less safe by shielding those criminals from immigration consequences.”
“The solutions aren’t hard…Secure the border, stop releasing illegal aliens into the country in droves, and when an illegal alien commits a crime in the community, turn them over to ICE, enforce the law, and remove them,” he added.

Former Acting Deputy Department of Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli shared that over 10 million “illegal alien invaders” have come into the country since Biden assumed office. Since then, Americans like Laken Riley have been allegedly murdered by illegal aliens. And, “previously defeated” illnesses in the U.S. are now resurfacing.

“It is the individual human cost that remains most alarming…these are the human casualties that are preventable with a secure border,” he stated. “We hear false narratives and manipulated data that parts the crime rates of illegal aliens with American citizens. And yet, every illegal entry into the United States is a crime. The crime rate for illegal immigrants is 100 percent. Every one of them broke the law when they invaded our country illegally.”
“Since June of 2011, Texas has experienced a minimum of 65,999 assault charges, 6,594 rape charges, 61,155 drug charges, 2,998 robbery charges, and 970 homicide charges attributable to criminal illegal aliens in the last 13 years,” he said.

Cuccinelli later stated that the Biden administration “absolutely and intentionally” made it more difficult to remove illegal aliens.
“They were attempting to tie their own shoelaces together. They literally took steps at ICE and CBP to make it harder for them to achieve their missions structurally,” he explained, noting that under new guidance, an illegal alien convicted of rape or murder could avoid a law enforcement priority and that illegals are “far less likely” to be removed under Biden than under President Donald Trump.
“MS-13 was the single most severe violent crime problem in Virginia during my time as AG and before and after,” he continued, explaining that illegal immigrant gangs are “one of the worst violent crime threats” in the U.S.

Sheriff Mike Chapman of Loudoun County, Virginia shared that the border crisis has led to a rise in juvenile fentanyl overdoses.
“Last fall, we had 11 reported overdoses reported within a six-week period among students who attend one high school,” he stated. Townhall previously reported on the influx of overdoses at this school.
“What is causing this drug crisis? First and foremost, wide open borders…every state is now a border state…The southern border lacks enforcement policies. The refusal to return illegal migrants to their countries, the discouragement by this administration for local authorities to turn over illegal migrants to ICE, and its overall lack of support to law enforcement in general has been a catalyst for increasing violent crime nationwide,” Chapman said.
“President Biden refuses to acknowledge and exercise his full authority to secure our borders…unfortunately, law enforcement agencies nationwide are suffering from the cascading criminal social impacts of this administration’s policies now coupled with the increased threat of terrorism,” he added. “Over 700 known or suspected terrorists were apprehended last year at the southern and northern borders.”
“We need an administration that backs all law enforcement.”

Townhall has covered time and time again how illegal immigrant criminals have made their way into the United States. This month, Townhall reported how an illegal alien who was living in Illinois was accused of murder after he nearly decapitated his wife in front of their children.
In addition, Townhall covered how an illegal alien charged with “a myriad” of sex crimes, including sex crimes against children, was arrested in Massachusetts. A few weeks prior, ERO Boston arrested a 51-year-old Brazilian fugitive wanted for rape who was in the United States unlawfully. In Michigan, an illegal immigrant was accused of killing a 25-year-old woman in a carjacking attempt and leaving her on the side of a highway.
It doesn’t stop there. In February, Townhall reported how an American college student named Laken Riley was murdered while out on a run. The suspect arrested in connection with her murder is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. Around this time, an illegal alien from Venezuela was charged with allegedly raping teenage girl in Virginia.
In addition, an illegal alien from Honduras was arrested in Louisiana in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl and the stabbing of a man during a knifepoint robbery. And, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who was deported from the United States five times allegedly killed a 10-year-old child in a hit-and-run car crash, which Townhall also covered.
In December, Townhall covered how an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua who was deported from the United States five times was sentenced to 19 years in prison for raping a woman in Ohio. Shortly after, an illegal immigrant in Colorado who was arrested multiple times, as well as deported, was arrested again after he allegedly killed a mother and her son in a car crash.
