“Orderly” and “humane.” That’s how White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre describes the Biden administration’s handling of illegal immigrants along the U.S.-Mexico border. Others within the Biden administration have denied there’s a crisis at all, insisted the border is secure, and said everything is under “operational control.”
For many in the mainstream media, along with Democrats on Capitol Hill and others on Team Biden, all this is said to be true without any scrutiny or grounding in reality. Yet, the Biden border narrative collapses entirely with just one look at what’s actually happening at the border.
Recently, Townhall’s Julio Rosas traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border to report on the reality of what’s going on and, unsurprisingly, it’s not at all what the Biden administration — including Border Czar Kamala “Do Not Come” Harris — is trying to get the American people to believe.
On the ground in Eagle Pass, Texas, Julio saw first-hand and reported on the thousands of illegal immigrants surging into the United States within a matter of hours, surpassing the capacity of processing facilities that have already been expanded in attempts to handle the ongoing surge of illegal immigrants since Biden’s border policies kicked in.

Julio watched as “large groups of people waded into the Rio Grande long after the sun had risen.” “Boats from different law enforcement agencies were close by, but they were mainly focused on preventing people from drowning, not simply deterring them with their presence. As soon as one group had made it onto the U.S. side of the river, another group would show up on the Mexican side,” Julio reported.

Julio also witnessed and reported for Townhall that there was “a baby, barely a few months old, being carried above a man’s head as he led a large group in a particularly wide and dangerous parts of the Rio Grande.”
“Due to Border Patrol having to quickly release people in order to make space for new arrivals, some people have been released with no way to get to their intended destination,” Julio noted. “One group spent the night in a parking lot of a sporting goods store and gas station.”
This reality of the border under Biden is anything but “orderly.”
Despite the Biden administration’s claims of having a handle on the surge of illegal immigrants, the mayor of Eagle Pass, Rolando Salinas, said he hadn’t “heard from anybody in the administration” while Julio was on the ground in his city. “We’re here abandoned,” Salinas added.
The fire department in Eagle Pass, amid willful ignorance from the Biden administration — if federal help were to be provided, such action would be an implicit admission that the situation at the border is not under control — has taken the lead in recovering the bodies of illegal immigrants who drown while attempting to cross the Rio Grande.
Out on the choppy waters of the river that divides the U.S. from Mexico, Julio saw first-hand the human cost of Biden’s border crisis. “You should’ve brought a mask, because of the smell,” one member of the Eagle Pass Fire Department told Julio. “You won’t forget it.”
“The three firefighters I was with worked to pull the body away from the barriers while making sure it didn’t float away with the current,” Julio reported following his time embedded with the fire department. “The victim was an adult male. Based on the body’s decomposition and the smell, he had been in the water for around five days.”
In just the few days Julio was on the ground for Townhall, authorities “pulled multiple bodies, including a child, from the water,” Julio noted. “How many bodies have you seen during all this?” he asked firefighters. “More than you want,” came the fire captain’s reply. As Julio learned, the most bodies recovered in one day by the crew he was embedded with was six, but a company at another station had a record of nine.
In no universe is this reality “humane.”
Reinforcing the fact that the chaos at the border is the result of Biden’s policies, a game of “whack-a-mole,” as Julio described it, is being played by illegal immigrants who seek out federal border agents and try to avoid state officials with the Texas National Guard or Department of Public Safety.
“Part of the gamble migrants take when they illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border is who they first encounter when they reach U.S. soil,” Julio explained. “They hope to turn themselves in to Border Patrol, who will take them to process their claims. But if they first meet Texas state troopers or National Guardsmen, they likely have to return to Mexico or find a gap in the miles-long concertina wire in order to find Border Patrol agents.”
One look at this whack-a-mole game in action again debunks Biden’s narrative of an orderly and under control situation at the border.

As Julio learned, the Biden administration continues to make the situation worse and undermine Texas’ efforts to restore order and regain control of the border.
“One trooper explained after the city of Eagle Pass declared the park where illegal crossings are high ‘private property,’ which allows the troopers to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing instead of handing them over to Border Patrol, the Border Patrol’s leadership would not move their agents down river to let Texas Highway Patrol take control of the area,” Julio reported.
Everything Julio witnessed and reported for Townhall during his latest trip to the border obliterates the false reality created by the White House. The true reality exposed by Townhall’s intrepid reporting is what President Biden doesn’t want Americans to see or know about — and that’s why it’s all the more important.
