Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) is stranded alone, and it’s his own fault he’s there. The Ohio Republican has fallen apart, has no friends or allies, and he’s made his situation worse regarding his messy divorce from Emily Moreno, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), by trying to do a media blitz that only made him more isolated.
The video announcement last weekend was strange; the court document in Dropbox did not remove the Moreno child’s name, and some content was reportedly graphic: photos of the child were taken amid the child abuse allegations. They were not meant for public viewing and were seen about 204,000 times before being removed, mistakenly uploaded by Miller’s lawyer.
Everyone knows about his drama, and with no support base, Mr. Miller seems unelectable. Any other Republicans would do better, and considering the divorce drama, is a congressional campaign the right place for this and his family? That’s what Scott Jennings asked on CNN, while adding that the GOP can improve in this district. Rumor has it that Miller could drop out very soon, despite his defiant resolve to continue his reelection bid (via Axios):
Denounced on social media and by fellow Republicans, Ohio Rep. Max Miller is telling allies he's not quitting for a simple reason: It would be tantamount to admitting he beat his ex-wife and their child, which he denies.
Why it matters: The Washington summer scandal is a case study in whether Miller — one of Donald Trump's understudies — can successfully employ the president's playbook of never backing down and never quitting.
Trump has publicly expressed sympathy for Miller but privately expressed doubts about his viability.
The calls to resign have mounted, especially in the Senate, where Miller's ex-father-in-law, Ohio's Bernie Moreno, serves.

Republicans privately expect that Miller will drop his reelection bid by the end of this week, according to two sources.
The intrigue: He, his ex and his father-in-law are now embroiled in a dispute over whether the representative held his daughter's blue bunny stuffed animal toy "hostage."
Moreno's fellow Republican Ohio senator, Jon Husted, called Thursday for Miller to quit.
