We've entered a dangerous and disappointing era in American discourse, where a party supported by roughly half the nation is perfectly fine with using violence against its political opponents. Democrats, who are incapable of defending their policies and positions, naturally resort to the behavior of every tyrannical regime throughout history: silencing their critics and their challengers.
Ilhan Omar said there was "nothing to honor" about Charlie Kirk because he was filled with "bigotry, hatred, and white supremacy."

What she means by that, of course, is "Charlie Kirk said things I disagree with and don't like." We know this because Omar cannot cite a single example of anything Kirk said that was bigoted, hateful, or white supremacist. Sure, they can take his statements out of context or make them up from whole cloth, but that doesn't prove their point.
Kirk professed views that at least half of Americans also share. For that, he was murdered. And Democrats cheered.
It's been a year since Kirk was assassinated in Utah, allegedly by a leftist named Tyler Robinson who had a trans furry lover. Since that day, various and sundry leftists have mocked Kirk's death, said he deserved it, and celebrated the dark anniversary — a day, remember, that a woman lost her husband, young children lost their father, and parents lost a son.
One of them, at the University of Utah, is playing the victim, with College Democrats from the school complaining about the College Republicans sharing her picture.

Cry me a river.
Sharing her picture on social media is the least we could do. In a sane society, this woman would remain unemployable from now until she qualifies for Social Security. Her friends would abandon her, and her family would shun her. She would be expelled from the University of Utah and not allowed to enroll in even the local community college.
This isn't a free speech issue. This is violence attempting to hide behind the First Amendment. Violence that's sanctioned by the Democrats and their allies in the media. By claiming Kirk's work was nothing but bigotry, Omar is creating a permission structure under which it's okay to harm anyone who holds the same views as Kirk. And make no mistake, we've moved past simply silencing conservatives — the Internet makes that impossible.
The next step is to make them afraid. They want conservatives to be afraid to speak out. I was last year, watching the news about Kirk unfold in real time. We were tangentially connected through our work, after all, and it could easily be me. But I decided I will not be cowed by these tyrants, not when they threaten to weaponize government and not when they threaten violence.
But because I'm not sufficiently afraid of them, they'll have to escalate to physical violence, including ending my life. And they'll justify it by saying I was — like Charlie — a bigot, a hater, and a white supremacist.
That is, bluntly, messed up.
So I hope more people who celebrate the cold-blooded murder of their political opponents have their shameful faces splashed across social media. I hope they get the same treatment Justine Sacco did, and that their vile behavior haunts them for the rest of their lives.
Before anyone asks if I'm simply doing the same thing to them as they are to us, no. I'm not. I'm not advocating for their murder. I'm not calling for violence. I'm calling for a return to civility. They've had numerous opportunities to do that, and they've instead doubled and tripled down on celebrating political violence. They deserve to be afraid for promoting violence. Conservatives do not deserve to be afraid, and should not be afraid, for expressing mainstream political opinions.
And we shouldn't be. Until leftists stop condoning, advocating, and supporting political violence, they deserve to be exposed publicly.
Therein lies the difference.
