Popularity Ratings for Harry and Meghan Tank After Oprah Interview

While her interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a ratings win for Oprah, the same cannot be said for her interviewees. Megyn Kelly, who also told the world how she really felt about the interview right after it aired, was all too happy on Friday to share the damning news from a YouGov poll. That same Friday was when CBS reaired the interview.

As the Telegraph summarized about the poll:

It showed that 45 per cent of Britons have a positive opinion of Prince Harry, while 48 per cent regard him negatively, giving a net score -3.

This represents a drop of 15 points from March 2 and marks the first time attitudes have been more negative than positive towards the prince.

Meghan’s scores have also fallen considerably. Only three in ten people said they had a positive opinion of her, while six in ten viewed her negatively. This gave her a net rating of -27, down from -14 a week ago.

A majority of 18-24 year olds - 55 per cent - said they liked Meghan, while only a third - 32 per cent - disliked her.

The same is true of Prince Harry, of whom three in five Britons aged 18 to 24 - 59 per cent - had a positive opinion and only three in ten - 28 per cent - did not.

By contrast, most people aged 65 and older disliked both of them - 69 per cent and 83 per cent respectively.

Not only does the poll show a considerable dislike for Harry and Meghan, but a favorable view of the Queen. "Britons continue to be most fond of the Queen, with 80 per cent liking her and just 14 per cent feeling otherwise," the Telegraph noted.

The YouGov poll included 1,664 respondents and was conducted March 10 and March 11, in perfect timing after the interview aired and before it aired again.

It looks like Megyn Kelly was right, that enough of Britons weren't fooled. Well, you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Though Harry and Meghan may find a way to spin this so as to garner even more sympathy.

Care if you want to. Keep in mind though that just as Oprah isn't inviting me on for an interview to share any of my family drama, I don't think she's inviting you to do the same either.

I know I can't wait for Harry and Meghan to no longer be so relevant. Maybe then People magazine will stop blowing up my inbox with such 'news.' I'll certainly feel relieved when they stop trying to sell me a magazine edition devoted entirely to the Royals.

Even more serious, though, is that maybe Meghan will stop going after the likes of Piers Morgan and his career for because he questioned her claims.

We should all be so lucky.
