It's true that at Christmas we long for peace and a united voice of joy for the blessings we have as a country. The Christ child calling from a manger calls for love not division. In this season of joy, President Biden's Christmas address called for unity and optimism for the year ahead.

He hoped his message would connect: "So, my hope this Christmas season is that we take a few moments of quiet reflection, find that stillness at the heart of Christmas, and look really look at each other, not as Democrats or

Republicans, not as members of Team Red or Team Blue, as who we really are, fellow Americans, fellow human beings worthy being treated with dignity and respect." Biden said that he wanted to "drain the poison" from "our politics."

His words ring hollow at a time when he has repeatedly demonized his political opponents. Does he remember calling MAGA Republicans "domestic terrorists?" Is this the same president who last Christmas attacked those unvaccinated Americans who would usher in a "winter of severe illness and death."

If President Biden truly wants to bring more unity, he will need more than a Christmas speech. He will need to demonstrate a change of heart by reversing some of his divisive policies and hateful comments that are contributing to America remaining so divided:

Unite Americans by caring enough to secure our borders to protect us all from the drug infestation, the rampant human trafficking, and the influx of millions of undocumented aliens overwhelming our border cities. Help us be a welcoming country to those who legally earn the right to immigrate to this amazing country.

Unite Americans by caring enough to support an "all of the above" energy policy that capitalizes on both new innovations and our amazing natural resources to provide low-cost energy and fuels to help lower inflation, create new jobs, and stimulate our vibrant free-enterprise economy.

Unite Americans by focusing on the common rights and gifts of all our citizens refusing to divide us into special groups that divide us and allow any special treatment to any group. Demand that all Americans receive the same rights and privileges a free country must ensure to truly be fair.

Unite Americans by bringing back personal accountability and law in order to our cities, once again ensuring that those who do crimes serve time as required by law. Take a stand to protect and support the law-abiding citizens while ensuring that criminals are held accountable.

Unite Americans by caring enough to limit government spending, to cut unnecessary government programs, and ensure that hard-working Americans keep more of the money they have earned instead of facing higher taxes.

Unite Americans by calling for a return to the voting system that has served this country for 200 years-help build renewed trust by ensuring only citizens vote using paper ballots on the same election day America has always set aside to decide elections.

Unite Americans by renewing a commitment to free speech by protecting every Americans right to express their criticism of those in power, no matter what the party. Instead of silencing criticism, invite and honor healthy disagreement and vibrant debate. Let hate speech by an invitation to more speech to counter its divisive voice.

Unite Americans by challenging every citizen to be a caring neighbor who supports local charities and gives from their own pocket to help friends, family, and neighbors instead of expecting government to take money from their wealthier neighbors to fund their "charity."

Finally, unite Americans by honoring and celebrating excellence in every race and gender by sharing stories of diverse people making a difference in every area of our lives. Instead of fostering government dependence by creating more entitlements, encourage people to learn from the millions of citizens who are still living their American Dream. Let them know that you believe America can work for every citizen willing to make it work!

Do these things Mr. President, and you just may have a united country in 2023!
