This weekend, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is proudly hosting an event with Planned Parenthood on Capitol Hill. BET Networks is sponsoring the issue forum on “reproductive freedom”. The nation’s largest abortion chain, never missing an opportunity to target the black community, is addressing how the Hobby Lobby decision will impact—you got it—black women.
The Hobby Lobby decision does nothing to reduce anyone’s access to birth control. The Supreme Court decision ruled that a closely held corporation cannot be forced to pay for an employee’s abortifacients, including Plan B, Ella, and hormonal and copper IUDs. The lawsuit never opposed the other 16 forms of contraception, and the ruling doesn’t touch those. But this weekend’s conference isn’t about birth control, but spin control with a racial twist.
We have more access to birth control than ever before. Yet the national unintended pregnancy rate hasn’t lowered in decades. It was 49 percent in 1995 and is currently 51 percent according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute. New York City, the home of Planned Parenthood, is a shining example of what Planned Parenthood has done for black women. The city has epidemic levels of STDs, rampant fatherlessness (72.3 percent), and black babies are aborted at five times the rate of the majority population. In fact, more black babies are aborted than born alive.
Prolife advocates call the devastation “black genocide”, terminology coined by the once pro-life Jesse Jackson. Abortion activists get outraged when that label is attached to this silent carnage, but according to the United Nations, genocide is exactly what’s happening. The UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Article 2, states: “In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group as such (a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measure intended to prevent births within the group…”
This is why abortion activist groups and politicians have been desperately trying to cast abortion as a civil and human right. Planned Parenthood perverts the rich civil rights legacy of elevating human dignity by exploiting Martin Luther King Jr’s regrettable and uninformed support of the organization. Planned Parenthood awarded Dr. King the Margaret Sanger Award (which annually commemorates their racist and elitist founder) in 1966, years before abortion was legalized…years before Planned Parenthood became the nation’s leading abortion business. Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, often tweets famous quotes about justice from Martin Luther King. All I need to say is…stop killing the dream.
Last year’s Congressional Black Caucus Chair, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, was awarded by Planned Parenthood at the CBC’s Annual Legislative Conference, for what the organization called his “tireless work on behalf of millions of women…who faced the most aggressive attacks on women’s health and rights in a generation.” What does it feel like to be honored by an organization that has killed over 12 million human beings? What goes through the mind of an individual who’s shiny, yet blood-streaked, trophy celebrates the mutilation of another person? Does one say: “Planned Parenthood only killed 327,166 this year, but I hope we can top that next year?”
Cleaver used to be outspoken about protecting women and children from Planned Parenthood. There was a time, before the character-morphing act of running for national political office, that he was passionately pro-life. The CBC actions, under the former leadership of Cleaver and current leadership of Planned Parenthood endorsed Representative Marcia Fudge, have helped to bring more death in urban areas by partnering with its number one killer, Planned Parenthood. The federal welfare giant (which received $540.6 million in taxpayer funds last year) is the cancer that continues to destroy the black community by promoting abortion as “healthcare”, condoning sexual irresponsibility, fostering fatherlessness and harming women’s emotional, spiritual and physical health.
The Congressional Black Caucus calls itself the “conscience of the Congress”. Apparently, that’s not meant to be humorous. The CBC allows money to dictate that “conscience”. For years, despite higher rates of smoking-related cancer in the black community, they willingly accepted over $250,000 annually from the tobacco industry in donations to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. For decades they traded morality for money. According to an exposé by the University of California and the National Cancer Institute, the tobacco industry used prominent African-American organizations “to make the case that raising cigarette taxes hurt African Americans.” They simply employed what Planned Parenthood did in their 1939 Negro Project—using influential black leaders and organizations to buy the lie. The lie was powerful, pervasive and persuasive. That may explain why free cigarettes used to be handed out at CBC meetings, according to the New York Times.
Some things never change.
Abortion is the new tobacco. And the industry putting money into their political pockets is Planned Parenthood.
The CBC is no different than many other political collectives (like the NAACP, Urban League, and Sharpton’s National Action Network) who rarely represent the real needs of their constituents. Because they add a racial component onto everything they do, it’s even more heinous that their undying support for the abortion industry has caused more deaths in the black community than all other causes of death combined: 373,605 to 285,522.
This partnership of liberal black-led organizations with an industry birthed in eugenic racism reveals how potently successful the influence was of the first Negro Project. Planned Parenthood knew it needed black people to con black people. And today they have an abundance of them in a political party that celebrates the massive abortion of black babies as “reproductive justice”.
I wonder if the CBC-Planned Parenthood partnership will be handing out free abortions at this weekend’s conference.
Nah. Planned Parenthood doesn’t do anything for free. There’s always a cost.
