We’ve discussed how time is the most valuable political resource. It can also be a double-edged sword, as Joe Biden thought he could coast to re-election in 2024. Seeing Trump as the presumptive GOP nominee, Biden’s team, viewing the former president’s approvals, hoped for a rematch. That wish has become a nightmare, as Democratic operatives and election analysts point out the obvious: Trump can win in 2024

I had my doubts early on about Trump and the legal drama that’s engulfed him, wondering if it would be a drag on the ticket. It looked that way at the time, as every Republican running would have been asked about Trump, leading to a potential messaging calamity. It’s one of the many reasons why Trump has lengthy trials, hoping that most start after the presidential election.

But the IRS whistleblower testimony regarding Department of Justice interference in their investigations into Hunter Biden, coupled with the FBI’s FD-1023 report and Devon Archer’s testimony, all point to a complex operation where the Biden family is engaging in influence-peddling. The left’s defensive counterpoints, specifically that Hunter only sold the illusion of access, died within minutes. The bank accounts suggest otherwise, with $20 million going to the various shell companies Hunter Biden and his family operated. Hunter's latest cache of emails isn’t incriminating, but who he was communicating with is the key. It's why he was making bank off these Central Asian oligarchs. Nearly 200 suspicious activity reports from six banks.

There’s enough to warrant an impeachment inquiry. A full-blown effort might be required since we need the testimony of Special Counsel David Weiss, who was neck-deep in legal negotiations with the president’s son, specifically on the tax violations and the formulation of that sweetheart deal that got killed, thanks to the testimony of IRS agents Joseph Ziegler and Gary Shapley. Also, everyone could see why Weiss was appointed special counsel on the Hunter Biden case: it was done to roadblock House Republicans. The man also allowed the more severe tax charges to lapse under the statute of limitations.

This long lap of political intrigue circles back to the Biden camp’s initial assumption, which now looks exceptionally flawed: a damaged Trump is a better re-election opponent. Well, it didn’t hurt the former president per se, only jacked up his base to the point where they’re ready for war. Second, who thought that Joe Biden was popular when this line of thinking was hatched? For months, Biden’s approvals have been in the toilet. High inflation is killing America’s working families. Illegal immigration, like in 2016, is about to be front-and-center as major cities, like New York City and Chicago, can no longer afford to house and subsidize these illegal aliens. Even die-hard Democratic voters are calling for border enforcement—it’s quite the sight.

The truth is that Biden is deeply unpopular. Most voters view him as too old and fragile to do the job, and his economic agenda—Bidenomics—is a flop. Trump might face the same approval rating troubles, plus four trials, but Biden could be engulfed in impeachment proceedings next year. And unlike 2020, Biden must do multiple events daily, which we all know he cannot do.

Right now, forget Trump; the mere fact that Biden needs to run again is his biggest enemy.
