…and look at how we are repaying Him.
America is certainly one of the most well-blessed countries in human history. We have multitudes of forests, lakes, rivers, mountains, rich farmland for growing an overabundance of food, natural resources that few countries have ever had, game and fish—we have so much that even our poor people are fat. The list of this country’s benefits would be longer than this article can be.
On top of that, the country was granted incredibly wise Founders who were spiritual men and gave us a freedom based upon virtue and the laws of God. They taught us the benefits of limited government and a virtuous citizenship. They set principles in motion that destroyed slavery and eventually gave equal human rights to every citizen. They taught us freedom, property rights (law), and a society based on godliness. They tried to control the tendency that nearly every politician down through history has had of lusting for power, which oppresses and enslaves their citizens. They taught us. Or tried to.
Frankly, tragically, inexcusably, shamefully, and now almost disastrously, we have refused to listen to our Founders—and more than that, to be thankful to God for the inexhaustible goodness He has tidal-waved upon our country.
Absolutely inexcusable ingratitude.
How have we shown our thanks for the overabundance of blessings we have received? Well, we’ve murdered our babies by the millions, and we lie to and butcher our children for sexual promiscuity. Speaking of sexual promiscuity, almost any form of licentiousness has been vomited out of Hollywood over the last few decades and has become acceptable to all classes of citizens—homosexuality, adultery, pre-marital sex, fornication—nearly all sex in movies and TV programs now is outside of wedlock. The Left—which is especially deviant and evil—has almost destroyed the nuclear family, much of it through miseducation and communication, but also through government programs that reward idleness and out-of-marriage pregnancies and childbirth. Actually, we don’t even know what marriage is anymore, because we allow men to “marry” men and women to “marry” women in direct contradiction to the beauty God established. But it’s not terribly surprising we do that because half of America apparently doesn’t even know what a man or a woman is anymore, unless it becomes financially or politically expedient. This is how we’ve thanked God for the cascades of blessings He has overwhelmed us with.

Criminals are now “victims” and turned loose on society to prey upon the innocent. We’ve invited the world into America to live freely off the wealth hard-working Americans have produced, and created a welfare system that will not only bankrupt the country someday, but also keep millions of people dependent upon government and politicians. What we’ve done to poor people may be the worst sin of all.
We certainly need to help the needy poor, but our Founders wisely knew such wasn’t the responsibility of government. They deliberately kept benevolence from the Constitution, and James Madison even said, “Charity is no part of the duty of government.” They understood that government handing out free money would produce…exactly what we see in America today. Countless millions of Americans—and non-Americans—standing in line to get as much of it as they can. When churches, charities, and individuals help the poor, they will be a little more circumspect with whom they give their money to. Politicians see an opportunity to buy votes, and that is all they care about.
Even though it is unconstitutional, I almost wouldn’t be opposed to some government charity if it were done wisely. But government does nothing wisely, and its “charity” encourages sloth and creates a class of totally parasitic, non-productive, and often decadent citizens. Our government has poured out untold trillions of dollars in welfare payments over the last 60 years, and I suspect some of it has been beneficial—that is, helped people who truly needed to get on their feet, become productive, and take care of themselves and their families without sponging off others. But, for too many people, welfare has destroyed their lives. According to government statistics, approximately 69 to 70 percent of black babies are born out of wedlock; this is nothing but a recipe for poverty, immorality, and a life of crime. Parasites do not take care of themselves, and never learn to do so if their host keeps feeding them. But it buys votes for politicians.
But maybe government welfare has helped some. After almost 60 years, the poverty rate has dropped from 12.8 percent in 1968 to 10.6 percent in 2025—a whopping 2 percent. Some people simply can’t, and don’t want to be helped. They’d rather sleep on the streets; that’s the life they choose. If you gave a person like that a $100,000 job in a major corporation, they’d be back on the street again in three months. Every civilization in human history has had riffraff like that, and all society can do with them is quarantine them, let them live the life they choose, and prevent them from harming others.
But I’ve wandered a bit from my main point. America is the most God-blessed country in history, and we have shown our gratitude to Him by spitting in His face with as much licentiousness, promiscuity, selfishness, corruption, debauchery, and depravity as we can create. And then we blame Him, or somebody else—anybody but ourselves—for the decadent America we have created. Whatever a man (nation) sows, that shall he (it) also reap.
I haven’t touched the hem of the garment here with America’s ingratitude to God. He is, thankfully, very long-suffering and patient; He certainly has been with me, and He certainly has with our country, which He continues to bless. How long that patience will last, I know not. But I do know, from history, that His patience does eventually end. It’s time for America to bless (thank) God, and not selfishly abuse His blessings.
