When Hunter Biden’s sweetheart plea agreement fell apart in spectacular fashion over the summer, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre frantically claimed President Joe Biden would not give his son a pardon. That there was no possibility of such a thing.
“From a presidential perspective, is there any possibility that the president would end up pardoning his son?” a reporter asked during the daily briefing.
“No,” Jean Pierre snapped. “I just said no. I just answered.”
Her statement was definitive during an uncertain time. In politics, definitive statements are early signs of regret and words that will likely be eaten later.
Meal time came this week when Special Counsel David Weiss handed Hunter Biden an indictment for three felony gun charges carrying the potential of 25 years in federal prison.
“Hunter Biden was indicted by Special Counsel David Weiss on three federal felony counts related to his purchase of a firearm in 2018, two counts being related to his attestation of being drug-free on a purchase form and one count related to his possession of the firearm while using narcotics,” Townhall reported.
All of a sudden, the need for a presidential pardon became a solidified reality.
While the gun charges are isolated to Hunter, potential violations of the Foreign Agent Registration Act apply to the Biden family – including James Biden and President Joe Biden. After all, they worked together selling the Biden family brand to foreign adversaries while Joe was the vice president. There are photos, messages, burner phones and much more. Not to mention, President Joe Biden's use of multiple fake names to communicate with Hunter.
"In June, Hunter Biden struck a plea agreement with prosecutors that would have allowed him to plead guilty to a pair of misdemeanor tax offenses -- before the deal fell apart during a court hearing in July after U.S. Judge Maryellen Noreika expressed concern over the structure of the agreement.' Special counsel David Weiss subsequently withdrew the two tax charges in Delaware with the intention of bringing them in California and Washington, D.C. -- the venues where the alleged misconduct occurred," ABC News reports. "Investigators have examined whether Hunter Biden paid adequate taxes on millions of dollars of his income, including money he made from multiple overseas business ventures."
Hunter Biden isn’t going to allow his father’s Department of Justice to put him in federal prison, especially if charges related to his foreign “business” dealings or taxes eventually get handed down.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are terrified of what Hunter might do if he takes the legal fall for the family business that made everyone rich. He is a loose cannon they desperately need to contain. This is why they allow him to live at the White House for weeks on end, attend official events despite the political baggage he magnifies, collaborate to deny the existence of their 7th grandchild and much more. Not to mention spending the COVID-19 pandemic at the house in Wilmington, where classified information was stored next to the Corvette in the garage.
“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” Biden complained to his daughter Naomi in a message from January 2019. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike pop, I won’t make you give me half your salary.”
What's on the "laptop from hell" is the tip of the iceberg. What lurks below the water line, in Hunter's head and under the pressure of hard prison time, is not something the Biden family wants to see above the surface.
Hunter knows everything and could expose his father’s lies once and for all. He has the details about his years-long partnership with his father to make the family rich. There’s no way he’s going to prison. Not because he's innocent, but because he can blackmail his father into a pardon.
Unless the younger Biden strikes another sweetheart plea deal, which would further undermine the justice system and credibility of the DOJ, Biden issuing a pardon to Hunter isn’t a possibility — it’s inevitable.
