The Role Of Legacy Media In Mass Shootings

The Uvalde school shooting wouldn’t have happened for a number of reasons. More regulation isn’t one of them. The ghoulish legacy media and the 24 hour news cycle are causally connected to mass murders of every type. The media feeds on the corpses of our dead and heralds the demented deeds of homicidal maniacs, creating a mythos for the disaffected and/or the demonic. Wittingly or not, legacy media has given the mass murderer the platform that he so desperately desires.

Just Google “Sandy Hook Shooter,” and you’ll discover in milliseconds who the monster was that killed 26 people before committing suicide that fateful day in December of 2012. His infamy has been recorded for all time within a digital Parthenon of the world’s most notorious killers. Mass shootings are a statement written in the blood of its victims and statements are meant to be noticed, memorialized, and recounted for all time—at least that’s what evil people hope for.

Every time a school shooting or mass murder event like the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting occurs, major news and media outlets report with titillating sobriety on every gruesome detail, knowing that their carefully packaged murder porn will keep eyes glued to their network and multiplied millions flowing from their advertisers. They pander to the basest aspects of human nature with a clinical disposition, lending a veneer of respectability to the bloody burlesque and inhuman traffic in profound suffering.

The charade is made obvious when considering the deafening silence surrounding the greater total body count tallied every weekend in every major American city—not coincidentally cities controlled for decades by Democrats and their toadies. The media loves a body count, just so long as it does’t implicate the tragic failures of progressivism. Uvlade suffered the tragic loss of 19 children and two adults on May 24th, but just just this week, 16 mass shootings have occurred across the country. In Chicago alone, 51 people were shot without much notice from the main stream media. Three people were shot this weekend in Detroit and in New York an unidentified male attacked a man, unprovoked, and stabbed him several times.

In routine instances, the much vilified “assault weapon” doesn’t play a role in the homicidal theatre. The AR-15 carbine, the civilian variant of the M4 military carbine is only capable of firing once with every trigger-pull. It is mechanically different from its military counterpart, which is capable of fully automatic or select fire. The M4 is technically an “assault weapon,” the AR-15 is not, though they are visually similar. The AR-15 is a set piece in the Democrat theatre of the absurd. People commit homicides and mass killings with whatever tools are at their disposal. It’s the evil heart that commits the crime.

The most horrific mass school killing occurred in 1927. Most people have long forgotten Bath, Michigan and the scene of death and destruction reminiscent of a WWI battle field. At approximately 8:45 a.m., explosives planted under one wing of The Bath Consolidated school detonated. In an instant, 44 people were dead, killed by explosives used to remove tree stumps. One witness described seeing “a pile of children.” Fortunately, a second charge of explosives, weighing 500 pounds, did not detonate. Otherwise, countless more of the 314 students would surely have perished.

But the Bath school tragedy occurred before the golden age of mass communications and the complete politicization of the news media. That’s why you can still buy explosives for stump removal without being accused of being a bad person or reviled “in God’s name” by a senile president. The proliferation of mass shootings at schools are directly related to the media’s propagation of the phenomena by every digital means of communication. The disaffected and mentally ill perpetrators are given national and international platforms that continue to inspire and motivate copycats who sulk in the dark recesses of society—over the Memorial Day weekend, a ten year old boy was arrested for making threats to commit a mass shooting at his school.

Politicians are creatures of the media and take the opportunity to grand-stand on the national stage after every sensational tragedy. Instead of offering actual solutions, like hardening schools via armed security/law enforcement, or constructing “man traps” designed to trap unauthorized people in a secure foyer of sorts. Instead, they use the death of children to advance their social agendas or pander to an ignorant, fearful base. Not a single demand for more stringent legislation has or will prevent another Uvalde. As long as evil exists in the world, administrative or legislative action will never dissuade those who are fundamentally lawless.

Every call for gun control is simply a call to disarm the law-abiding, creating ever growing masses of people left to rely on a statist system that can’t, nor cares to provide protection. Every politician calling for gun control, does so behind a phalanx of armed security, resting easy in the knowledge that their privilege buys security for their children in private, hardened schools. And the cries for gun control come most vociferously from the same loathsome activists who ceaselessly agitate for defunding the police. The irony is only lost on the legacy media which promotes stripping people of the means of self protection, while simultaneously withdrawing the state means of protecting its citizens. It’s just the kind of anarchy that Marxists thrive in, and that is no coincidence.

Despite the legacy media’s best efforts, most Americans still know that good people with guns will always be necessary to stop bad people with guns—wether at a school, in the home, or from totalitarians bent on domination.
