Two weeks ago, all the news out of Washington was about how wildly unpopular Joe Biden was, either for reasons of incompetence or senility; take your pick. “Bidenomics” is a disaster, but for reasons only someone in the haze of dementia can understand, the President keeps touting it to the American people. Gas prices were up, food costs were through the roof, and you could not have constructed a better scenario for Republicans to move the electoral ball more in their favor. So, naturally, they had to screw it up because the Republican Party is made up of idiots.

It starts at the top, with the head of the Republican National Committee agreeing to two primary debates with Fox News and Telemundo, where the questions were either better suited to a Democrat debate or just so far beyond stupid that embarrassment is the only thing anyone should feel for those involved. (That dumb “Survivor” question, anyone?)

From there, a tiny group of House members decided that all the attention being focused on the failures of Democrats was bad and wandered into a field of rakes, stepping on them with glee as each handle smacked them in the face. “We need to rock the boat” is something people on the Titanic never said, but these Republicans chose to steer the ship into the iceberg for…reasons.

A smart thing to do in politics is to try to figure out what your actions will mean, meaning what reactions will come from them, so you’re prepared for it – you can’t just throw a rock into a pond and there not be ripples. The “geniuses” behind ousting the Speaker of the House didn’t think anything beyond their personal fundraising and cable news appearances, and even that might be giving them too much credit.

If you want something to happen, you should have a plan to make it happen. If you hate your car for whatever reason but need a car to get to work, you should probably figure out how to get a new one before you set your current one on fire. At a minimum, you should at least arrange a ride to work for a while, right? Not Matt Gaetz, Nancy Mace, and the other morons who saw an opportunity but didn’t have the cognitive skills to decide whether they should take it. Opportunity presents itself every day – you could rob a liquor store, it’s right there; you could cheat on your spouse, who’d know? You don’t avail yourself of them because you’re not an idiot or a bad person, or at a minimum, you’ve thought through the consequences and decided they’re not worth it. Does anyone believe either of those people have thought through the consequences of their actions at any point in their lives, or do they strike you as the “I don’t care, I want to do it anyway” type? If you’ve heard the stories, you know the answer.

None of this would matter, really, if the wheels hadn’t fallen off the Middle East just days after these narcissists kneecapped the GOP. Nothing can be done in the House, but because they wanted to they got rid of the only person who could get the votes for the job.

Kevin McCarthy is far from perfect, but then so is the Republican caucus. There are half moderates and half conservatives, so nothing I think of as particularly good is going to pass the House, and that’s before mentioning that the Senate isn’t going to take it up anyway, and Biden would veto it. That’s the long way of saying it doesn’t really matter who the Speaker is right now.

But the Bobbsey Twits decided to destroy it, anyone, on “principle.” What principle, they can’t really say. Their fundraising emails don’t go beyond the surface because they’re surface people. Gaetz is in a 70 percent district, so he doesn’t have anything to worry about. He could have worked hard as a legislator, written bills, and actively fought to make the case for them, eventually winning over Members and pushing them into law…but that sounds an awful lot like work and leaves very little time for DC receptions. Easier to just destroy.

Mace isn't as safe of a district, so she needs a bigger clown show. She went on CNN to ignore questions about her hypocrisy while begging for money, showing how “un-bright” she is. She thought CNN’s audience would donate to any Republican, even a dimwitted one. That not having worked, she paraded around in a red “A” on her shirt, citing the Scarlet Letter. In the book, which the soon-to-be three-times married Mace appears to have not read, the “A” stands for adultery. Draw your own conclusions there.

These people had no plan, and worse, they had no clue either.

Who can get the votes to become Speaker now? Not Steve Scalise. Not Jim Jordan, at least not so far. Who? Which Member can pass the purity test of a couple of morons who couldn’t pass one themselves?

When Israel needs us to act to help them kill the Hamas terrorists, we can’t. All spending has to originate from the House, and the House can’t do anything legislatively when there isn’t a Speaker. You know what that does. It empowers Joe Biden.

The American people looked at that doddering old man and saw someone they didn’t like and didn’t trust. But in the absence of any alternative, he’s all we’ve got. All he has to do is read the teleprompter and sign some executive orders moving money around. He is doing his job effectively, especially when compared to the rudderless boobs in the House, the only place Republicans have power.

None of this is helpful; it makes everyone look bad. Add in the former President making points regarding Israel about himself that are just plain stupid, to the point his staff had to try to walk them back, and you begin to see why they call the GOP the stupid party.

If Republicans could get the hell out of their own way, they might actually get some really good things done. If they could stop walking out into a field of rakes and stop buying and throwing so many rakes on the ground everywhere, we might win.

Instead, the Republican Party is a party of idiots. Idiots are very good at getting on highly rated cable TV shows and having a large social media following, but they are horrible at leading. Horrible at addressing problems. They are horrible at not making literally everything about them.

Do you want to get your way? First, have a clue about what you actually want, not just what you don’t. Second, work your ass off to elect people who agree with you or convince those already elected. Third, recognize that no one has ever “been an ass to everyone-ed” on their way to a lasting victory. These are pretty easy points to remember unless you’re an even bigger moron than you’ve shown the world already. Then you can just congratulate Joe Biden on his second term now and save a whole bunch of people the hassle and the campaign donations you people are getting ready to set on fire. Morons.
