There Was A Time Journalists Would’ve Demanded An End To This

There was a time, believe it or not, when people in the media (I refuse to call them journalists because they’re not) would pretend to be outraged if their name or likeness was used in political fundraising material. Outlets used to demand clips of their “stars” be removed from commercials, believe it or not, and it usually worked. Candidates and parties didn’t want to get on the wrong side of the media, so they complied.

Then the media died. The very concept of objective journalism, or at least the desire to pretend to be objective, went away, and anchors and reporters stopped denying what was obvious to everyone else and showed the world they’d been wearing the uniform of Democrats all along. From that moment on, the complaints of media organizations stopped, and, for the left anyway, they were fair game for Democrats to use as they please.

Bob Woodward, of Watergate fame, has been milking his name since the 1970s. While the left views Watergate as the most significant moment in journalism, it really was the beginning of the end of it. It’s the moment when reporters shifted to wanting to “get” politicians, mostly Republicans, in order to get rich and famous. Woodward and Carl Bernstein made a fortune and were played in the movie by Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, a considerable step up in the looks department for bridge troll Bernstein.

Other reporters wanted a piece of that action, and editors stopped holding them to standards in their pursuit.

Now Bernstein is a resident bridge troll on CNN, and Bob Woodward is rolled out often to claim anything a Republican is accused of is just like, though not as wrong as, Watergate.

Left-wing dark money group 314 Action used bag-o-bones Bob to raise money this week under the subject line, “Bob Woodward just broke his silence about Donald Trump.”

Bob Woodward has never shut up about Donald Trump or anything else, so the idea that he could “break his silence” is absurd. But what, pray tell, did this sage have to say?

The email opens, “THIS JUST IN: Legendary Watergate investigative journalist Bob Woodward says Jack Smith’s case against Trump is “most important one Trump faces” on MSNBC News.” OK, not exactly Earth-shattering, but if you have an IQ higher than your shoe size, you are not the target demographic for Democrats.

So what did Bobby say? He said, “This is the most important case. If you look at the indictment, the first 42 pages are all built around the law about subverting the lawful function of government. It's stunning; they have all this testimony from key people who told him, ‘That's wrong.’ This is cleverly designed to make it coherent and clear to the jury.” Doesn’t that make you want to pull out your wallet? Of course not.

The email continues, “He goes on to applaud Special Counsel Jack Smith for making the clearest case of criminal conduct by Donald Trump and for lining up testimony ranging from Trump’s Vice President and Attorney General to his own legal advisers and most senior staff. Complete Jack Smith’s performance report card in the next hour and let us know how you think Jack Smith is handling what could be the most important case against a President in history.”

A whole bunch of morons are being asked to rate a prosecutor’s performance. The barrier to entry should be the ability to spell “prosecutor,” but that would eliminate 95 percent of the base. The only barrier to entry is having a credit card and being dumb enough to give its number to these people.

When you click to answer their “important” question, the fine print reads, “By participating, you agree to the terms & privacy policy for recurring auto dialed marketing messages from 314 Action to the phone number you provide. No consent is required to buy. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to end.”

It’s a personal data grab; they confess to it right there. You can go through the four pages of “important questions” without even offering an answer, just leaving everything blank. But there are people who think their opinion matters to these groups, who answer earnestly like they’re making a difference rather than some leftists richer. You almost have to feel bad for them…until you remember they’re idiots funding their own demise and the country’s.

If Bob Woodward had any dignity left, he’d demand this group stop using his name. Of course, he does not.
