There are some people, we all know some, who bring nothing to the table. They aren’t creative, they aren’t smart, they aren’t interesting or amusing, they’re just there, whether you want them to be or not. They usually tag along with others, because who in their right mind would invite them specifically? But they always seem to show up. You do your best to ignore them, but their vapid existence and the insistence of it makes it very difficult to do. They find a way to ruin things. I’d bet dollars to donuts that the vast majority of these people, north of 90 percent, are liberals, because there is nothing they can’t, or at least won’t try, to ruin.
Do you enjoy a good steak? A nice adult beverage occasionally, wine or liquor? Even though the experience itself can be unbelievably frustrating sometimes, don’t you enjoy the ability to hop on a plane and be on the other side of the planet in a few hours? Or the convenience of getting in your car and going wherever it is you need or want, simply because you can? If the left has their way, each of those activities would be much more difficult, or impossible, in the name of “progress.”
Of course, by “progress” they mean the goose-stepping march toward their political goal of complete control over everyone and everything. It must be difficult to be a progressive, to be so sure of how everything must be done and run, yet be wrong every single time. If they weren’t so steadfast in their denial of reality, reality would really kick them where it hurts.
But it’s not just the big things leftists seek to control, and therefore destroy, it’s also the little things and the fun things. They, by and large, seem incapable of enjoying anything. Go to a college campus and you will see miserable people sulking around stuck firmly in the belief that the planet is going to die and there’s no point to any of it. You almost feel badly for them, but then you realize they’re old enough to know better – that the ability to “question authority” is in them, but they choose to kneel instead.
Not all of them. There are plenty of people on those campuses who will stand up to tyrants, who do question authority, who will not comply for the sake of compliance. But they are a distinct minority. There are more students who insist they are victims, either of their skin color, gender, gender identity (which they determined when they woke up that morning and insist is totally real and important), or any other manner of stupidity Democrats have convinced themselves matter, than there are normal people simply trying to go about their business. You’d think stupid people got a break on tuition or there were special scholarships, but they’re just what happens when the joyless use government and the culture to insist they are the “hip” crowd.
The saying “youth is wasted on the young” has never been truer. Once the arthritis kicks in, the bills start piling up (including the student loan bills from their miserable years in college), they’ll realize they wasted the chunk of their lives meant to be wasted having fun on being insufferable prigs.
That fact won’t wake them up, as you’d expect it to for a normal person, to the reality that they’ve been lied to, it’ll just make them even more miserable. Those days are gone, the opportunities missed. Which will just serve to make them even more miserable – a death spiral of regret and disappointment.
It’s hard to feel badly for someone complaining of a chronic headache when you see them continually hitting themselves in the head with a hammer. You can only tell them the hammer hitting their head might be the problem so many times if they won’t listen, at which point you kind of have to sit back and laugh.
These people are wasting their lives being miserable and angry, which is their right to do, but they’re attempting to inflict their misery on everyone. They’ve convinced themselves that misery loves company. But they don’t want company, they want obedience.
The left is taking the good things in life and ruining them, whether it’s on purpose or accident is irrelevant. Everything they touch turns to what we flush away. There is nothing they can’t do that to, that they can’t ruin, which is why they need to be kept as far away from positions to impose their will on others as possible. If they want to make themselves miserable, fine. It couldn’t happen to a nicer, more deserving group of people.
