One of Donald Trump's best attack lines was against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in 2016. Like most in politics, Trump knows that Mr. Cruz is sometimes too smart for his own good. It's why Cruz fell into every trap laid for him by his Republican opponents and the liberal media.
Whether it be holding a presser to denounce that his father was involved in the JFK assassination, an obvious trolling move by Trump, or explaining the sex toys position in his arguments before the Texas Supreme Court when he was solicitor general, the man cannot help himself in rushing into no-win public relations nightmares. But Trump smearing the Texas Republican "lyin' Ted" must be a top-five attack. That all died when Trump rebranded him "beautiful Ted" after the 2016 election, but that moniker has made a comeback, albeit inadvertently through a California Democrat.
Rep. Ted Lieu is a world-class troll, but his impact is minimal because no one knows who he is. He hails from a D+56708 district, so he, like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), can get away with spewing insane things. Swalwell went further, reportedly sleeping with Chinese intelligence agents. Lieu is your archetypal left-wing Democrat. He wants to regulate free speech and went on an off-the-wall crazy screed about red states and education:
Kids in MAGA states will be kept ignorant. They won’t know gay marriage is the law. They won’t be taught facts that may make them uncomfortable. They will be coddled in a MAGA bubble, and when they go to work or trade school or college, they will be made fun of and disrespected. https://t.co/0jGgvEt4sg

Meanwhile, California is the most illiterate state in the country. But his recent trip on MSNBC included this forced delivery of a Russian collusion talking point, where he said that any pro-Trump ad we see throughout the 2024 elections should come with a "paid for by the Kremlin" disclaimer.

The Russian collusion investigation was exposed as a hoax, Ted. You know this, too. Your political views are atrocious, but you can walk and chew gum simultaneously. Like the January 6 riot, everyone has moved on from Russian collusion, which has damaged the integrity of the press and the Justice Department to the point where half the nation views them as not credible. There was never any solid evidence of Russian collusion—ever. The Durham Report was clear that nothing the FBI had could justify any investigation, especially not the illegal FISA spy warrants issued against Trump associates. The brass knew it was a Clinton-funded campaign opposition file and suppressed that to keep the unwarranted surveillance operation going.
Joe Biden has been roped into a bribery scheme that involves Burisma Holdings co-founder Mykola Zlochevsky, who allegedly paid the then-vice president $5 million in 2015-16. He allegedly has a ledger of the payments, phone calls, and recordings of those conversations. It's all in the FBI's FD-1023 report from its confidential human source, someone it's used since the Obama administration. Russia gets roped into this story because Zlochevsky is reportedly a Russian intelligence asset. So, if there is Russian collusion, it's between Biden and the Kremlin. The Democrats allowed Russian disinformation to permeate the media landscape through the Steele Dossier, the foundational piece for the illegitimate collusion probe, and allowed someone allegedly taking bribes from Russian intelligence assets to govern unmolested from 1600 Penn. In a sane world, there would be hearings, investigations, and possibly impeachment proceedings, but that would require Democrats to follow the law.
Lyin' Ted is back, but he's taken the form of a blowhard Democrat from California.
