They Don't Learn: Second Dem Pushes for El Salvador Visit

Democrats are not giving up on Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, even after Democrat Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s little PR stunt to El Salvador proved to be a total bust. The government of El Salvador denied his request to visit the “Maryland man,” as the left is referring to him, ignoring Abrego Garcia's MS-13 ties, that he was in the U.S. illegally, and that his wife sought a restraining order against him over domestic violence allegations, court filings released by DHS show.

Now, a House Democrat is asking for a congressional delegation to visit the CECOT prison in El Salvador, where Abrego Garcia and hundreds of other deportees were sent.

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) wrote to House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) on Wednesday, asking “that the House Committee on Homeland Security authorize a Congressional Member Delegation (CODEL) to conduct an oversight visit to the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) in Tecoluca, El Salvador.”

According to Axios, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N) and Democratic Reps. Robert Garcia of California and Maxwell Frost of Florida are also trying to organize a CODEL to El Salvador.

“Given that the Administration’s use of CECOT for illegal and unconstitutional deportations is rife with ‘administrative errors’ and many of those who have been deported to CECOT are not, in fact, violent criminals, as a Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security Committee, I urgently request a CODEL to conduct oversight of CECOT," Ramirez added. "Thank you for the consideration of this request."

As Matt reported Thursday morning, House Republicans "obliterated" Van Hollen's stunt.

“If these Democrats are so desperate to save an MS-13 gang member from his home country of El Salvador, maybe the flights they're booking should be one-way," said Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN).
