'Bombshell' House Judiciary Report Details Shocking State of Immigration Enforcement Under Biden

As Katie reported on Monday, Hamas’ ground invasion into Israel puts the U.S. illegal immigration crisis in a new perspective. The Gaza Strip, she pointed out, is only 25 miles long. The U.S.’s northern and southern borders combined are 7,476 miles—most of which, especially in the north, are unguarded. We already know that the number of people apprehended at the border on the terror watch list has skyrocketed in recent years, and that’s just those who have been caught. Fox News’s Bill Melugin reports that in Fiscal Year 2023 alone so far, 151 suspects on the terror watch list have been arrested at the southern border compared to 0 in FY 2019. Meanwhile, there are at least 1.5 million known gotaways. So you can imagine these numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. The reporter has been trying to figure out what happens after they’re arrested but he said it’s “almost impossible to know” because “once the Feds have them, it’s a black hole on information and lots of ‘no comment.’”

It's within this context that a new “bombshell” report from the House Judiciary Committee was released showing another disturbing element to the illegal immigration crisis in the U.S.

Department of Homeland Security data obtained by the Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement show that more than 99 percent of illegal aliens released into the interior under President Biden have not been removed.

“This information contradicts the assertions of the Administration, and the statements of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, that the southwest border is closed and illegal aliens are removed from the country quickly,” the report states.

The data also revealed other startling realities about the state of immigration enforcement, and these are numbers that came prior to the massive influx following the expiration of Title 42 in May.

• Between January 20, 2021, and March 31, 2023, there were over 5 million illegal alien encounters. Of these encounters, at least 2,464,424 had no confirmed departure from the United States.

• During the same period, DHS released at least 2,148,738 illegal aliens into the United States.

• Only 5,993 illegal aliens encountered at the southwest border and placed in removal proceedings before an immigration judge were actually removed from the United States during this time.

•A mere six percent of illegal aliens released into the United States were even screened for fear of persecution for purposes of asylum.

•As of March 2023, DHS had removed only 874 of the illegal aliens found to have a credible fear of persecution and whose claims were adjudicated on the merits and denied by an immigration judge.

•An additional 205,473 aliens were released into the country through illegal categorical parole programs.

“Thanks to relentless efforts by the Committee and its Immigration Subcommittee, Biden’s DHS has finally caved and provided crucial data on the border crisis,” the House Judiciary Committee said in a statement on X.
