What President Trump tweeted about Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is “grotesque,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) declared Tuesday at a press conference with female lawmakers. Trump went after Gillibrand after the congresswoman demanded, along with three other senators, that he resign "immediately" over the sexual assault allegations against him. Trump tweeted that those accusations are "fabricated."
In a separate post, he had much more to say about the senator herself.

Speier, who has been leading the bipartisan effort on Capitol Hill to address sexual abuse, said Trump's Twitter dialogue proves he's unfit to be in the Oval Office.

Over 50 congresswomen joined Speier at Tuesday's press conference to demand an investigation into the accusations against Trump, particularly after three of his accusers shared their stories with NBC’s Megyn Kelly Monday. In their conversation with Kelly, the women explained how Trump once treated them like "pieces of meat."

Some male lawmakers are supporting their female colleagues' efforts. In an interview on CNN Tuesday, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) said there should be an investigation because the women have "detailed accusations" against the president. For the sake of the nation, Castro said, Trump "should resign."
Sexual allegations have already had a hand in derailing the careers of Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). As for Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, we'll soon find out if voters believe the eight women who say he took advantage of them. He denies the charges.
