No Surprise: Warren Is Fundraising Off Cohen's Testimony But There's One Catch

Not long after Michael Cohen testified in front of the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Wednesday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) decided to fundraise off Cohen's testimony. She sent an email to supporters asking them to sign a petition urging President Donald Trump and future presidents to not pardon anyone connected to the Russia probe, The Hill reported.

“Under oath and in an open session of Congress, one of Donald Trump’s most trusted advisors implicated him in criminal activity while he’s been in the White House,” the email read. “Our criminal justice system is hanging on and doing its job – the truth is coming out – despite unprecedented, relentless, and potentially illegal pressure from Donald Trump and his associates in and out of government. But here’s the biggest threat right now: Donald Trump, or the next President, using the pardon power to cover up and permanently excuse this wrongdoing.”

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent out a similar fundraising email to supports, saying  “Michael Cohen’s testimony makes this clear: Trump is a threat to our country. It’s up to us to make him a one-term president.”

It's interesting that Warren and the DNC are convinced President Trump is a liar, especially after House Oversight Reform Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Subcommittee Government Operations Ranking Member Mark Meadows (R-NC) sent a letter to the Department of Justice urging them to charge Cohen with perjury.

According to Jordan and Meadows, Cohen's statements on Wednesday directly contradicted statements he previously made to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
