Despite the enormous pro-life victory with the 2022 Dobbs ruling, the Left has kept up its sick fight to abort unborn children as part of their "reproductive rights" and "healthcare." The way they did this was by removing all guardrails on chemical abortion drugs like mifepristone, with no regard for the consequences such moves posed to the health, safety, and bodily autonomy of women.

This includes women like Catherine Herring, who found out she was pregnant in 2022 while separated from her husband. Thanks to the Biden administration, Herring's husband was able to get the abortion pill by mail, and he used the drug to spike Catherine's drink in an effort to terminate the pregnancy. Fortunately, Catherine was able to connect with a pro-life organization that gave her medication to reverse the effects of the abortion drug, and her daughter was born healthy. Last December, a prominent Ohio surgeon was arrested after he forced his mistress to take the abortion drug, causing her to lose the pregnancy. Those are just two of the countless stories, of course.

The FDA grossly underestimated the risk of serious complications from the drug, too. Those serious complications include infection, sepsis, and hemorrhaging. The FDA said the risk from mifepristone was 0.5 percent. In reality, the risk is closer to 11 percent, which means more than one in 10 women could face those complications. Here I think of Amber Nicole Thurman, the Georgia woman who was pregnant with twins and had a young child at home. She drove to another state to get the abortion drug, which was given to her without oversight or follow-up by a medical professional. Thurman took it, and ended up getting an infection from the fetal remains that her body didn't expel. She died at a Georgia hospital. The Left blamed Georgia's abortion laws, but Thurman had an abortion. What she didn't have was proper follow-up care and medical supervision, because Democrats like Joe Biden did away with those rules.

Now the next stage of the war on the unborn is being launched by the New Yorker, which is saying that being pregnant is — like gender these days — non-binary.

No. You are either pregnant or you're not. It doesn't matter if you're four weeks along or four months along. That is still an unborn child. It is not a "clump of cells" or "tissue."

Human development has stages, including the stages of pregnancy from embryo to fetus, followed by the newborn, toddler, and child stages. Each stage involves tremendous change, growth, and progression toward adulthood. Nor does ending a pregnancy "early" make it any less barbaric or morally abhorrent. A child is a unique, individual, human being from the moment of conception — which actually happens in the fallopian tube before the embryo implants in the uterine wall.

Now, I understand that the Left also thinks it's okay to murder children these days if the mom has a surge of hormones or depression. But that doesn't make it right or moral. What happened in the Lindsay Clancy trial is a direct outgrowth of the abortion mindset, of course. Abortion teaches us that our supreme happiness reigns supreme over the needs of our children. So too does arguing that Lindsay Clancy's supposed mental health problems (which I don't believe, by the way, but that's a topic for another column). It says her state of mind is more important than justice for those children. Jurors said they wanted to use the verdict to "make things better for women."

Children — including Clancy's three dead children and the tens of millions aborted — don't seem to matter.

I know, for me, the second I got a positive pregnancy test, I was a mother. I was pregnant. There was no "kind of pregnant," "a little bit pregnant" or "almost pregnant." You're pregnant or you're not. Anything else is just an excuse to continue expanding the abortion culture.
