I read Amity Shlaes's "The Forgotten Man" not too long ago, which was about the Great Depression. But Shlaes mentions the Soviet Union and how — just a decade after the revolution — it relied heavily on the generosity and prosperity of American capitalism to stay afloat. That and the astronomical body count should be proof enough that socialism is a bad idea. But some people are clamoring for it, pretending it'll be a utopian world where they can do art and live in communes.
Socialism is the ideology of the lazy. Spouted by rich, privileged theatre kids who never did an honest day's work in their lives and embraced by greedy, lazy basement dwellers, it's a political movement that tells the gullible they can sit at home and do nothing while all their needs are provided for. History proves that's just not true. Socialism and communism require tremendous amounts of forced labor to even hobble along.
So when Abdul El-Sayed says we need to "push back against the culture of hard work" he's lying to you.

There will be no harder work than the work you're forced to do at the behest of the state and at the barrel of a gun. Whether you're sent to a state-run factory or government farm, you will work, and hard. Feeding the lazy masses requires long days without holidays or vacation time. Providing "free" healthcare means many doctors, nurses, and specialists will be forced to work endless shifts to meet demand.
That'll really cut into your communal garden free time and ability to attend trans indigenous poetry slams.
Hard work is a good thing, and meaningful work isn't just a human need; it gives people a sense of pride and purpose in life. Socialists not only want to deny you the wealth and comfort of capitalism, but they also want to strip you of your sense of pride and purpose. They want you to be miserable; they want you to feel like there is nothing worth striving for and that you must suffer and toil for them until the day you die.

Socialism wants everyone to be equally miserable, equally poor, housed in equal squalor, while guys like El-Sayed exempt themselves from the misery they created (they're our moral and intellectual betters, after all). There is no better way to do this than to destroy the human spirit and the human drive to work, grow, and achieve.
For guys like El-Sayed, he believes being poor is the product of a system and, therefore, the system itself must be dismantled. That aligns with what the socialists have vowed to do: destroy the pillars of America and turn it into a full-blown communist nation. And make no mistake, if you think you're working hard now under a capitalist system, just wait until the socialists assign you to the tire factory or the wheat farm. That's hard work, and there's no way out of it.
A culture that rewards hard work is not bad. Hard work is how we feed our families, build wealth, and cultivate dignity and pride. Perhaps being poor isn't a moral failure, but refusing to encourage hard work — thus keeping people poor — is. El-Sayed is shaming those who work hard and succeed so he can later justify taking from them to give to the people he claims are aggrieved by a culture of hard work. It's diseased and immoral, but that's what socialism is at its core.
