With Abdul El-Sayed winning the Democrat U.S. Senate primary in Michigan and becoming the most radical candidate in this election cycle, and the rise of Francesca Hong in Wisconsin, it's clear that socialism and communism are increasingly gaining hold of the Democrat Party.

Both El-Sayed and Hong have said crazy things in their push to bring their brand of democratic socialism to their respective states, and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are pushing an agenda that leads to full-blown communism. Abdul El-Sayed wants socialist healthcare and brags about ending immigration enforcement, and he claims he will "abolish medical debt" as part of Medicare for All. He campaigned with Hasan Piker, the streamer who said America deserved the 9/11 terror attacks, and refused to disavow Piker's radical statements. Francesca Hong says she's proud to be a Democratic Socialist, vowed to use state violence against ICE agents, and campaigned with Hasan Piker, too, telling him she wants government-run grocery stores and other socialist agenda items.

Meanwhile, in Wisconsin's northwoods, Republican Michael Alfonso knows the DSA and candidates like El-Sayed and Hong are selling us a bunch of empty promises and downright lies.

A new ad launching August 6 shows that Michael Alfonso understands the dangers of communism. His grandfather fled communist Cuba after the Castro Revolution, risking everything for freedom and opportunity in America. That experience shaped Alfonso's family and his views of the American Dream, instilling a deep appreciation for the freedoms and opportunities this country provides.

Alfonso has also said that to counter the rise of democratic socialism and communism in the Democrat Party, Republicans need to nominate and elect younger leaders for the next generation. At just 26 years old, Alfonso would be the only Congressman born in the 21st century. He believes that Republicans need young, vibrant, credible voices that can make the case for opportunity, hard work, and the American Dream. Alfonso hopes his campaign will encourage more young conservatives to get involved and protect America's future.

Raised in Wisconsin's 7th District, Alfonso grew up hunting, fishing, and playing sports like hockey and football. He met his wife at Newman Catholic High School and paid his way through the University of Wisconsin-Madison by working construction jobs. This background gives Alfonso first-hand experience with and knowledge of the challenges faced by young Americans: buying a home, supporting a family, and achieving the American Dream through hard work, not government handouts.

"Michael Alfonso's grandparents left Cuba for the Midwest," the ad says. "Now, Democratic Socialists are selling America the same lie. They'll say Michael was handed this, but all he got was a time clock at 14 and a tuition bill he paid himself. He'll fight for lower prices, lower property taxes, and affordable healthcare because his family knows what free costs."

Wisconsin voters have a clear choice to lead the state in the right direction and to be a firewall against the rise of socialism, and bringing the Northwoods to Washington is the way to do it.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
