With apologies to FDR, Saturday morning, October 7th, is a date that will live in infamy.
Americans waking up to check headlines before tackling their lists of weekend chores or anticipating a relaxing day of college football games were instead united in horror with other nations around the globe as they gazed at images of Israelis running for their lives in the wake of the linear equivalent of Pearl Harbor in the Middle East.
Without warning, Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip along Israel’s southern border launched a coordinated sneak attack in the early hours of Shabbat observations. Thousands of deadly rockets kicked off their combined land, sea, and air attacks fired simultaneously, which overwhelmed Israel’s vaunted Iron Dome missile defense system and drove terrified men, women, and children into bomb shelters and safe rooms.
Even as the Hamas first of 3,000 missiles were striking, militants along the Israeli border were smashing through “smart walls” (designed to protect areas above ground while also detecting tunnels that Palestinians often employ to burrow underneath the high-tech barriers) and began pouring across the border. Still, other Hamas forces floated into Israeli territory on motorized hang gliders…opening fire on defenseless civilians during their deadly invasion.
In the wake of these cowardly Hamas attacks, Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant, correctly branded Hamas as “the face of evil.”
Of course, our 24/7 left-leaning cable news outlets like CNN and MSNBC quickly overlooked the images of elderly women and children being beaten up in the streets, then dragged into SUVs and pickup trucks to be driven back into Gaza, where they very likely will be tortured and used as pawns in another Hamas propaganda campaign. But even as the bloody bodies of women were being savagely kicked by brutal militants for TV cameras, CNN was already pivoting to blame-the-victim mode.
“How did Israel not see this coming?” one CNN knucklehead asked. Over on MSNBC, anchor Ali Velshi was pontificating that Israel’s “occupation” of the West Bank inevitably would lead to “reaction” from Palestinians. Right. Punching horrified women in the head while their hands are bound behind them and giving them the finger for television cameras isn’t barbarism or subhuman behavior. It’s a “reaction.” George Orwell would fit in comfortably as news director at several of these operations.

Appearing in Waterloo, Iowa on Saturday afternoon, former president Donald J. Trump reminded voters that President Joe Biden recently greenlighted the transfer of $6-billion in embargoed funds to the mullahs in Iran which—following Biden’s surrender of Afghanistan to Taliban radicals—projected yet another image of America being “weak and ineffective.”
Trump reminded his Iowa audience that Islamic radicals “never had this level of aggression with me. They didn’t have it. This would have never happened with me either.” He characterized the terrorist invasion of Israel and the brutal murder of civilians as “an act of savagery that must and will be crushed.”
(For his part, our current President—accompanied by our hapless Secretary of State Antony Blinken—made a brief appearance on TV Saturday afternoon and read this off his prompter: “The United States stands with Israel, and we will never fail to have their back.”) That’s pathetically at odds with one of the most popular t-shirts sold in gift shops throughout the State of Israel…depicting F-16 fighters and IDF tanks with the legend, “Don’t worry America. Israel has your back.” Nice legacy, Joe.
But with the deadly Hamas 9/11-style attacks and Israel’s military retaliation still unfolding, now is not the time for Monday Morning Quarterbacking of why Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “didn’t see this coming”…or for gnashing our teeth about morons like New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America mounting a rally in honor of the attacks or why so many American “journalists” always side with leftist Visigoths like Hamas instead of boosting the only democracy in the Middle East.
Instead, this is the time for right-thinking Americans to stand up for Israel and offer our financial support for those who have been wounded and may have lost family members. This monstrous siege is far from over, and we must march shoulder to shoulder with Israel's men, women, and children in this… darkest hour since the Yom Kippur war 50 years ago in October 1973.

SRN listener donations will go towards security, basic needs, psychological aid, and any other emergencies as they arise.)
It has been said that in times like these, it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness. I know we all face hardships and tough economic struggles here in the United States. However, just imagine you had awakened Saturday morning to the sound of rockets landing near your home and armed terrorists had broken through your front door to drag your children or grandparents into the streets as hostages to further their deadly agenda.
I guess you’d be praying that your devastation would touch people on the other side of the world so that they would open their hearts and wallets to help you, even though you probably will never meet each other this side of Heaven.
If I’m right, you now know where to find The Mike Gallagher Show.
