Have you grown tired hearing about how the Trump tariffs are dangerous from smarmy Trump-hating self-proclaimed intellectuals and economists? The drumbeat has been nonstop from the TDS crowd. We expect it from the Left. If he said puppies were cute, they would decry that he hates kittens. What’s disappointing though is hearing it from free-market libertarians and others on the ‘right’ who can’t see past their arrogance and/or disdain for President Trump to figure out what our president is trying to accomplish.

It’s not hard to find footage of a much younger Donald Trump on Oprah in 1988 talking about how we are getting “ripped off” by other countries. It’s not like he hasn’t been talking about unfair trade practices for the last thirty-seven years. What’s a surprise though is when we elect someone on a campaign promise and then they actually do what they said they would do. Take note weak-kneed Republicans.

Has anyone ever heard from this crowd how we are to attain this free-market utopia they seek? Do we just ask China nicely? Pretty please, could you reduce our tariffs to zero? Trump did what he does best. He dropped an anvil on them and guess what happened? Despite the lying headlines, they caved. They came to the table because they were forced to not because they wanted to. What is astounding is that it is all so predictable. He literally wrote a book about negotiating.

As of this writing, the equity markets have surged past their lows following “Liberation Day”, the day President Trump enacted massive tariffs on countries who have been doing the same to us for decades. The dollar is on the move surging one percent after the announcement with China. New business deals are being struck almost daily. Gas is down, inflation is down. And we all knew that once the government stopped ordering the mass slaughter of chickens, that egg prices would return to normal as they have. And we’re just over 100 days into this administration.

For the naysayers, no one who believes in this president expects a smooth ride. It takes heat to produce gold. We’re not going to dismantle generations of poor policies without pain. The entrenched administrative state is not going to roll over and give up. Leeches and other parasites aren’t going to change their diet. Citizens at grass roots levels must continue to pressure their representatives to do the right thing, to help this president. We’ve only commandeered the pirate ship. The pirates are still on board. Mutinous ones are the worst.

Our government is once-again taking law enforcement seriously and federal authorities are rounding up criminal gang members and other threats to civil society. Meanwhile the Never Trump crowd, to include plenty of free-market libertarians, thumbs their noses at these successes. Spare us your lectures about due process.

Attention Republicans in Congress: You have less than two years to help this president achieve what generations of politicians could not. Now is the time to dismantle the administrative state. Imagine how good it would be if many of the Trump policies were codified into law instead of being acted upon via administrative order. Get on board. We’re tired of your unfulfilled promises. We’re tired of your made-for-TV dramas that end in a vast bottomless pit called Nothing Ever Happens. We loathe your inaction just slightly less than we loathe your Socialist/Communist counterparts across the aisle. The enemy within is worse than the enemy without. We understand that margins are tight. Produce the bills anyway and let the voters figure out who needs to lose in the next primaries. We’re keeping track and we’re paying attention.

Finally, to everyone who lectured us incessantly about tariffs, you owe us an apology. Trump simply negotiated a better deal by using the best leverage we have as a country, our economic strength and purchasing power. (See also, Ronald Reagan) Thanks, though for your economics lessons about tariffs driving up consumer prices. Gee, we never would have known that without your scholarly input. Trump just showed the world how you implement free trade or get significantly closer to achieving it. You use powerful leverage to negotiate a better deal.

If you didn't take advantage of the dip in the equity market, you'd better get in now and hold on. For all you Trump haters out there, it's going to be a long four years for you.

Buckle up buttercups. The New Golden Era has begun.
