Mazie Hirono Is Literally an Embarrassment to the Senate

Mazie Hirono is quickly becoming the Hank Johnson of the United States Senate. You remember Hank Johnson, don't you? He's the Democratic congressman from Georgia who worried about whether the island of Guam would capsize when thousands of Marines deployed there for a training exercise.

Did we mention he's a Democrat?

Johnson's colleague from the other side of the Legislative Branch, fellow Mensa President Hirono, took to the floor of the Senate yesterday and spoke passionately and eloquently about her enthusiastic affection for killing babies in the womb right up until the moment of birth... oh... and paying for those infanticides with your tax dollars, of course.

At the end of her Women's Reproductive Choice Pro-Abortion remarks, she went "off script" and said this:

"This is an outright attack on women in this country. That is how I see it," she said. "That is how more and more women and those who support our right to make decisions about our own bodies, that is how we see it. And why? Because that's what's happening. Madam President, I yield the floor. But clearly, this is a — literally, call to arms in our country. I yield the floor."

You catch that?

She first said that the pro-life position was "an outright attack on women in this country" and concluded by saying it was "literally a call to arms."

Literally.

Sen. Hirono just made a literal "call to arms" for pro-abortionists to defend women from an "outright attack."

For those who have a Hirono-level understanding of the English language (but since you're a VIP member of Townhall, God knows you're smarter than that,) Merriam-Webster defines the adverb "literally" as:

a - in a way that uses the ordinary or primary meaning of a term or expression

and

b -used to emphasize the truth and accuracy of a statement or description

c - with exact equivalence : with the meaning of each individual word given exactly

d - in a completely accurate way

In other words, when Hirono "literally" calls people to arms, her words mean that people should equip themselves with guns to fight for her cause. In this case, let us remind you that her "cause" is to permit the unimpeded killing of babies in the womb right up until the moment of birth.

At a time when Liz Cheney's January 6th Kangaroo Committee is considering a criminal referral for President Trump for literally saying the participants in that day's rally should "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard," one might want to consider the violent political rhetoric employed by Sen. Hirono in this outrageous diatribe.

And considering multiple pregnancy crisis centers have been fire-bombed and vandalized over the many weeks since the Dobbs decision erased the debacle of Roe v. Wade from American jurisprudence, Hirono's irresponsible call to arms is even more dangerous.

This is a perfect example of political intimidation, bullying, and violent rhetoric that Hirono and her hypocritical colleagues would decry the moment they heard such a thing from a Republican... except that they don't actually hear this thing from a Republican. Ever.

As usual, what the left accuses the right in this country of doing is what they are, in fact, actually guilty of time after time after time.

Unless, of course, Hirono didn't mean to say what she said. Maybe she didn't mean "literally" when she said this was a call to arms. Maybe she meant "figuratively."

Or, maybe... and this is probably even more likely, maybe she doesn't actually understand what "literally" means.

In which case, she is an idiot bordering on illiterate.

Well, there you have it. Sen. Mazie Hirono, Democrat of Hawaii, is either endorsing, inciting and encouraging violence against her pro-life political opponents, or she is a moron.

Take your pick. It has to be one or the other.

Or... it could very well be both.
