Why Biden's Border Wall Is Worthless

This week, the leftist media erupted in horror when President Joe Biden went back on his promise to end wall construction on the U.S.-Mexico border.

"There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas pursuant to sections 102(a) and 102(b) of [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996]," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas released in a memo.

The move was a far cry from promises made on the campaign trail and the reversals Biden instituted on day one of his presidency through executive order.

"There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration. Not one," Biden said in August 2020.

The outrage was fast and furious. Reporters pelted White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly over the issue.

"These funds were appropriated in fiscal year 2019 under Republican leadership, and DHS is required by law to use the funds for appropriate," Jean-Pierre said, justifying the construction. "This is something that we were required by law, and we are complying."

President Biden was given the same treatment, and when asked directly if border walls work, he said, "No."

But while the administration claims the new wall is being constructed in order to "follow the law," the White House is well aware of President Biden's low approval numbers on the issue of illegal immigration. This is their way of "doing something" without actually doing anything to solve the current crisis. Walls do work, but only when they are married with strong deterrence policy from the federal government.

The current catastrophe is being fueled by Biden's acceptance of mass asylum fraud. Walls are great for stopping people who don't want to be caught and for staking territory with declarations of sovereignty on an international border. They don't work when millions of people can claim they "have fear" while turning themselves in to Border Patrol and are then processed and released into the United States. In fact, they are provided bus tickets and plane rides to any city of their choosing.

For years, Republican senators have accepted this fact while Democrats continue to embrace the lawlessness.

"Fixing asylum rules and ending catch-and-release are the most important things Biden can do to address the #BidenBorderCrisis He has all the authorities he needs to do so now, but won't. Infrastructure (wall, fence, bollards) along the border is an important component of regaining control of illegal immigration. But without addressing reform of the asylum system, it will not succeed," Senator John Cornyn wrote on X. "Asylum seekers are surrendering to border patrol and then released, which encourages more migrants to come. Only 15% ultimately are successful. Transiting safe third countries should disqualify asylum seekers."

"I'm glad to see that after nearly 3 years of chaos and over 6 million illegal immigrants entering the country, the Biden Administration has suddenly discovered a need to finish building the border wall," Senator Lindsey Graham, who introduced asylum reform legislation years ago, piled on. "Now that the Biden Administration seems to be looking at ways to fix illegal immigration, they must join in efforts to change our asylum laws. The 1900 mile border with Mexico needs to be more secure, but the asylum magnet has to be turned off to achieve maximum border security. If we do not change our outrageous asylum system, this never ends."

Walls work when millions aren't allowed to lie, with a reward of travel to a new and permanent destination in America. Biden's wall construction is a mirage as his political team desperately tries to save his campaign from defeat in 2024.
