Julie Poner has worked to combat the misuse of VAWA in marriage for green card fraud as well as the prevention of international child abduction, an unfortunate but all too common counterpart to the VAWA issue, since 1998. Her Senate testimony gave her the opportunity to be a voice representing thousands of American men, women and children who have suffered the unintended consequences of a law that currently presumes the foreign national is always the victim.
