I don’t know how Debbie Wasserman Schultz was raised, but I had a younger brother that I was not allowed to hit. Of course I did anyway, on more than one occasion, so I was reprimanded and warned that “one day he’ll be bigger than you”.

Now he is, so it’s “Yes, Sir”.

I’m not sure what Debbie was thinking when she sucker punched Rep. Col. Allen West, by criticizing him after he left the House floor.

In typical Dem talking points mode, she claimed that HR 2560 would “end the Medicare guarantee”, (as if we ever had one) and leave the grandmas of South Florida eating cat food, or choosing between cat food and prescriptions, or something like that. Come to think of it, if things really get bad, Granny might even have to decide between new batteries for her golf cart, or cat food, or medication, for heaven’t sake!

Rep. West instantly responded with an e-mail to “Little Debbie”, calling her "the most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the House of Representatives......You have proven repeatedly that you are not a lady....If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!"

Of course the Democratic leadership tried to use Rep. West’s words against him in a fundraising e-mail: “...West thinks he can attack a respected legislator like Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz with this kind of hate-filled screed..”

Wah, wah...There are two issues here. The first is, you don’t get to hit the boy first, and when he hits you back, go running into the House (get it, House?). You wanna play rough, Debbie, you’d better learn how to take it. Should’ve learned that on the playground.

The bigger problem for the left is that they’re used to right-leaning weenies who back down the first time someone pulls the race card or the girl card. Rep. West is a military Lt. Colonel who’s seen and heard more than “Little Debbie” ever will, and he doesn’t mince words or suffer fools. Rep. West once tweeted "Anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool." How refreshing.

Speaking to Mark Levin last week, he said, "I’m a threat because I’m the guy that got off their 21st century plantation and they cannot afford to have a strong voice such as mine out there reverberating and resonating across this country....and even more so, they’re not used to anyone that says, `I’m going to fight back against you.’"

He’s correct, of course.

The left has gotten away with too much for too long, because the right wants to play nice. Playing nice with the enemy doesn’t help you in war, and it doesn’t help you in a war of words, either. The rest of the GOP should take this lesson to heart. Allen West’s straightforward approach reflects the beliefs of many on the right who are bored with politico-speak, and general wimpiness from the GOP. People like Allen West who unwaveringly stand up for what’s right are the future of the GOP. If not, the GOP won’t have one.
