The Phone Call Between the Obamas and Kamala Was As Fake As It Gets in Politics

Did you hear the “big news”? Barack and Michelle Obama endorsed Kamala Harris for President! Yes, it was Earth-shattering and really a game-changer…or something, at least according to the media. In reality, it was staged bit of political theater that exposed just how phony Harris and the entire Democratic Party establishment truly are.

First off, was there ever any doubt about who the Obamas would endorse? Does anyone think they were on the fence and unable to decide between Kamala and literally no one else running for the Democratic nominee? OK, Marianne Williamson had technically indicated she was interested in a convention fight, but Oprah’s Guru has always been taken as seriously as you’d expect someone with a pocket full of crystals to be. No one else was stepping up, and they sure as hell weren’t going to endorse Donald Trump.

So, when the “news” broke Friday that Obamas came around, I was as shocked as someone discovering water is wet.

Then, I watched the campaign video of that “phone call” between them

Does anyone really believe that a phone call took place like that? If it did, the Obamas hate Kamala Harris. If it didn’t, the Obamas hate Kamala Harris.

First, Kamala is walking backstage somewhere with a film crew weirdly recording her walking with a junior staffer who carries her phone when the call comes in. The junior staffer hands the phone to Harris with it on speaker, for reasons unknown. Then she’s shocked both Michelle and Barack were on the call at the same time.

Michelle gives a completely fake, “Hey there,” to which Harris replies, “Aw, hi, you’re both together!” Is that how a human being answers a call? These aren’t the Clintons, is them both being on the phone out of the ordinary?

Then, in one of the worst and most awkward cuts in campaign ad history, Kamala is out of the theater and in a parking garage, standing by her SUV. Then Michelle, after literally only having said “Hey there,” launches into, “I can’t have this phone call without saying to my gurl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”

Literally, that’s every word Michelle Obama says in the video of the call the Harris campaign released. What does it mean? Nothing. “This is going to be historic”? Every presidential election is historic. Was she trying to say this would be different because she’s a black and Indian woman? Black has been done, woman has been done, and Democrats don’t really care about the Indian part, so what? Why couldn’t she have that phone call without saying that?

Even more confusing was all Barack said was, “We called to say Michelle, and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.” Neither of them utter another word or even make a sound in the call, nothing.

Kamala replies with a, “Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you. Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road. But most of all, I just want to tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express. So thank you both; it means so much. And we’re going to have some fun with this, too, aren’t we?”

To which, at the end, the Obamas apparently said nothing or had already hung up because there were zero responses to any of it. No “yes,” no “Uh huh,” no sounds at all from the Obamas. It makes you think they don’t really like her or the call did not actually happen. That rather than making a phone call, which somehow the speakerphone sounds surprisingly good for a backstage area and a garage, the Obamas just sent a few random, impersonal recorded lines the Harris campaign was free to use however they wanted.

Honestly, I’ve had talks with wrong numbers that were more personal than this thing Democrats staged.

And what friendship has Kamala been talking about over the years? She was Senator for 2 years and did nothing in the job after Obama had left office, so there was no reason for them to hang out. Before that she was Attorney General in California. While photos suggest she greeted Obama at least once on a trip out there, along with the Governor, there is nothing that suggests they’ve ever interacted at any time other than in an official capacity. The Obamas wouldn’t bother with a District Attorney in San Francisco or Willie Brown’s side piece, so the idea that there’s some deep-rooted friendship is a sincere as that phone call was.

I suspect they don’t know each other, and the Obamas don’t want to get too close to her because she’s a tough sell. Having no accomplishments she’s proud of makes her harder to sell than a rusted-out car with no engine.

I can’t bring myself to believe this phone call actually happened. No one talks like any of these people do in it. If that was the best they could mine from it, and it wasn’t just the Obamas sending over some canned lines that, frankly, I would have passed on using any of because they literally say nothing, and the call actually happened, what the hell did they cut?

There are a lot of edits, big edits, including going from being backstage somewhere to a parking lot. What was said at that time? How bad could it have been? Aside from the Obamas telling Kamala to go to hell, and they hope she loses, there’s no way it was worse than, “Gurl, this is gonna be historic!”

Watch the video and know that the campaign put it together and released it, so they must think it has some value that a written statement couldn’t add. Then ask yourself what the hell it could possibly be, because I have no idea.
