What’s the secret to getting glowing press coverage without ever having accomplished anything? Be associated with a conservative while denouncing conservatism and the media will beat a path to your door. Such is the case with Kathryn Murdoch, a woman with a resume so impressive it includes marrying the son of a rich guy and setting out to elect Democrats. While that’s not the only thing on her resume, it’s the only thing that matters. And it’s what has gotten her more glowing news coverage than people who’ve actually accomplished things that make the world a better place.

Marrying James Murdoch, the ungrateful, unimpressive, youngest son of Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire media mogul, was the greatest career move Kathryn ever made. It might’ve been the only career move she’s ever made, aside from a stint with the Clinton charities related to climate change; but it’s definitely the only move she’s made that matters. And it’s the only reason you know her name.

Kathryn’s husband James has been the subject of a series of writings and tweets I’ve sent over the years about people I affectionately call “lucky sperm,” people whose major accomplishment in life is being born to parents who’ve done things and are treated (and in many cases act) like they’ve done something themselves. No need to list them all, if you know them because of who their relatives are you’ve pretty much got it. They are the very definition of “born on 3rd base and acting like they’ve hit a triple.”

They’ve decided the world, which outside of left-wing newsrooms does not know they exist, needs them. They have been shoveling chunks of their fortune toward combating “disinformation” in the media. It sounds like something from a White House press briefing, doesn’t it?

James and Kathryn toss around a lot of money, money they got from the family they’re seemingly embarrassed of. Open Secrets reports, “But both James and Kathryn Murdoch have donated cash to various left-leaning and anti-Trump super PACs. This cycle, James and Kathryn Murdoch contributed a total of roughly $12.2 million to federal committees, ranking 25th on OpenSecrets’ list of top donors. She contributed $500,000 to Pacronym, focused on backing Democrats in closely-watched races. She also donated $540,000 to the Democratic Future Forward PAC, and $300,000 to Unite the Country, a pro-Biden PAC.”

Curiously, all the links in the original piece quoted above are active and go to legitimate websites for existing organizations…except one. Whatever Pacronym is, it’s website now redirects to something about TV stands and wall mounts. Useful, but odd considering the half million it got from Kathryn not that long ago.

It’s Twitter account hasn’t been active since 2020, and the organization it is associated with – called Acronym – is about as active and successful as its sister organization. What’s that saying about a fool and their money again?

The Murdochs are a special case. If they weren’t ungrateful left-wing activists actively trying to damage the family that made them rich, you’d never have heard of them. I’m not just talking about if they weren’t rich, I’m talking about if they weren’t liberal. Have you ever heard about the conservative offspring of a notable left-winger? I’m betting not.

But James, when not pursuing self-indulgent business ideas, follows his wife’s lead down the left-wing activist path. That’s public relations gold. You can pretty much be caught smoking crack while filming yourself throwing puppies into a wood chipper and, if you are a left-wing child of a conservative, you can count on glowing press. Don’t believe me? Replace “puppies into a wood chipper” with sleeping with prostitutes and strippers after having left your wife for your brother’s widow” and you’ve got Hunter Biden.

Hunter is another lucky sperm, maybe the only member of the club rivaling James and Kathryn in the amount of glowing press to legitimate accomplishments ratio. At least the lesser Murdochs haven’t entered the art world…yet.

What they have done is enter the multiple glowing profiles in the mainstream media world. James is the golden child in Times stories about him, and that has rubbed off on his wife too. In September of 2019, the New York Times ran a piece entitled, “Kathryn Murdoch Steps Out of the Family Shadow to Fight Climate Change.” Weird, considering the story fails to mention how the family was trying to keep her in the shadow. This week comes another, “How a Murdoch Hopes to Save American Democracy” with the sub-headline, “Kathryn Murdoch is trying to change how elections are run. It’s a work in progress.”

Were you aware that democracy needed the help of the wife of a guy who inherited everything he has?

It seems like Kathryn is someone with nothing better to do than seek meaning in their life through external actions and validations. Most people find that in their children, but then most people can’t afford an army of staff to raise them.

Murdoch has joined with other left-wing wealthy to disenfranchise the stupid common people who didn’t marry rich, to change the primary process around the country to favor Democrats as much as possible through non-partisan primaries or ranked-choice voting, possibly the dumbest of the dumb ideas Democrats have cooked up.

The Times writes, “Murdoch is plowing resources and much of her energy into Unite America, a collection of groups that backs organizations, campaigns and candidates that support her reform goals. Unite America is meant to be a ‘cross-partisan’ meeting ground for donors and activists, she said. ‘It’s a group of people,’ Murdoch added with a chuckle, ‘with a wide variety of reasonable opinions.’”

Are you ready to cede what constitutes “reasonable opinions” to an activist leftist? That’s a hard pass from me.

If she weren’t a left-winger married to the aimless child of a conservative billionaire, you never would have heard of Kathryn Murdoch. You never would have heard of James Murdoch if it were based solely on his accomplishments – a little more than a year after he bought into Vice Media its value dropped by half, and that’s one of his more successful ventures.

While aimless and meddlesome, coupled with an arrogance that they, and only people like them, know what’s best for the country, James and Kathryn Murdoch can at least take comfort in the fact that they aren’t Hunter Biden. Then again, anyone not currently marinating in their own filth while high on crack can say the same thing. Ahh, the lives of lucky sperms…
