Mr. Levin is a founding partner of New York investment bank Nexus Capital Markets, LLC (www.nexuscapitalmarkets.com) and private equity fund, New Bridge Africa, LLC (www.newbridgeafrica.com) and has enjoyed over 30 years in the leveraged buyout, investment banking and technology fields.
He is also a columnist for CNBC Africa where he writes about African business, the emerging markets and U.S. politics. His articles have additionally appeared in Forbes Africa and South Africa’s Business Day Live.
A seasoned dealmaker, Mr. Levin has led Nexus Capital Markets for nearly 18 years and has overseen the strategic direction of the company and its expansion into Africa. In this capacity, he was responsible for opening new markets for the company and driving business in many key African countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana and Ethiopia. At New Bridge Africa, an African-centric PE fund, Mr. Levin has worked with the firm’s other partners identifying and structuring investments for the company in South Africa’s manufacturing sector.
He was additionally a founding partner of Nexus’ predecessor company, Nova Capital Partners, an emerging markets investment bank. At Nova, he also oversaw the business development efforts of the company and guided the sales force in these markets. Mr. Levin also oversaw the development of the company’s equity research arm, Nova Capital Africa Analytics, (NCAA). NCAA provided cutting edge equity research and emerging markets insight to leading hedge funds in both Europe and the United States.
Prior to founding Nova, Mr. Levin served as a Principal at American Capital Strategies (ACS), a $50 billion dollar publicly traded Leveraged Buyout Fund. At ACS, he was charged with overseeing new investments into enterprise level technology companies across the U.S. He was also responsible for investments in other sectors such as logistics, distribution, and transportation. Before joining American Capital, Mr. Levin served as Director of E-Business for the New York region of CBSI (now Covansys), a publicly traded, $1Billion global IT Professional Services firm and systems integrator. Here, Mr. Levin oversaw the development of e-business strategic initiatives for many of the company’s clientele and blended e-business strategies into CBSI’s broader systems integration projects.
