David L. Burg has practiced as a business and entertainment litigator since 1987, following his graduation from the U.C. Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). He has practiced with both large and small firms, and he spent ten years in-house with NBCUniversal as Senior Vice President and Head of Litigation for Universal Studios. Burg currently practices with Mandavia Ephraim & Burg, where he is fortunate to have been reunited with two longstanding colleagues (and brilliant litigators), Anji Mandavia and Julie Ephraim.
Burg was born, raised, and spent most of his life in Los Angeles. He and his wife Julie raised their three sons (Louis, Daniel, and Elliot) in the Studio City neighborhood of L.A. until the family’s June 2021 relocation to beautiful and historic Monmouth County, New Jersey, near where Julie grew up and close to their large family.
Burg has had a deep interest in politics since the 1968 Presidential election (when he was 11). Not surprisingly, as the product of a Jewish family in the San Fernando Valley, Burg began his political life as a liberal Democrat, walking Valley precincts for Eugene McCarthy in 1968 and George McGovern in 1972.
After studying Latin American history under Marxist professors at UCLA, where Burg graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in History, Burg spent the 1980s as a leftist. By the early 1990s, however, having been influenced primarily by Dennis Prager and a number of friends who provided first-hand witness to the evils of leftist totalitarianism, Burg recognized that the Republican Party alone is dedicated to our fundamental Constitutional values of freedom, individual rights derived from our Creator, limited government, checks and balances, safety and security, and personal autonomy.
Burg has been a conservative Republican ever since.
In 2022, Burg was so outraged by the “Republican” who had represented his New Jersey district in Congress for the previous 40 years that he launched a 5-month primary campaign to unseat him. Unfortunately the Establishment won.
