Anti-Social Media – CNN

  • One might expect to see this disturbing approach on “The View.”

One thing that is unacceptable during Trump 2.0 is finding anything positive in his first 100 days. Of course, the same media that was incapable of finding a crisis at the border for the past four years would also turn a blind eye to the great success the Trump administration has had in closing the border.

But here CNN has taken it a step further. The outlet that has long argued about giving Trump and/or Republicans equal coverage on any story – out of fear that would normalize misinformation – sees no problem in employing the “both sides” talking point when it comes to the illegal Mexican cartels. Sure, we need to get their side of the story when it comes to the vile manner President Trump has secured our national border.

The network literally sat down with a cartel member to get their impressions on the shutdown that has taken place as well as – we are not joking now – getting their feelings about Trump calling the cartels a terrorist group. This is just staggering tone-deaf reporting, and yet the Defamation Network proudly put this on the air.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – ASSOCIATED PRESS

  • Maybe we should send some USAID relief to these criminal enterprises so affected?!

The running joke with the press approach to Trump is that if he were to come up with a cure for cancer the news would be how he was putting oncologists out of work. Well, here we have the AP living down to that punchline, literally.

With the closing of the border and illegals arriving at a scant fraction of past levels, the AP went down to Central America to find people who have become economically impacted by the drop in demand for illegal human trafficking. Yes…seriously.

They have actually found those who have been making a mint for the past few years and now look sympathetically at those who are no longer profiting off of moving illegals through Panama and up into Mexico. This is a rather unreal approach to an illegal trade and yet this article actually exists.

Pre-Written Field Reports – NBC NEWS

  • For the second time in 100 days, Kristen comes unprepared.

President Trump defies the press narrative by routinely sitting down with the supposed enemy media. For the second time since taking office, he sat with Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press,” and for the second time, he unraveled her prepared talking points.

When she brought up deportations, she tried to be sly in asking if people were going to be required to carry – not “identification” – but their “papers,” a clear nod to the oppressive demands by fascist authorities. The press tries to say Trump wavered on saying he would follow the Constitution when what he was explaining was he was not yet sure because he was awaiting a SCOTUS ruling – something he said he would abide by.

The real laugher was Welker attempting to paint the economy as bad because prices on her selectively chosen items have risen; namely automobile tires and baby strollers. This was completely countered by the president noting how gas prices as well as food and many other day-to-day purchases have come down. These strained loaded questions were entirely laughable.

Reporting on the Mirror – CBS NEWS / NPR / PBS

  • The tongue bath was inevitable, and yet still disturbing to watch.

Following the executive order from President Trump to peel back the federal funding of public broadcasters, the press has gone into full-scale PR mode for PBS and NPR. There has been no shortage of narratives put out in the days following the order, from saying the amount paid is a small fraction of their budget (then they will not miss it), that defunding them is a First Amendment violation (it most certainly is not) up to saying lives will be endangered if they go off the air. (How or why this will result is only blithely addressed.)

One laughable claim was that both entities are neutral in their reporting of the news, and they do not operate from narratives. (We’ll pause here as we wait for you to compose yourselves.) One thing they should be aware of when making this claim – it is a bad look when both the esteemed David Brooks of PBS and Catherine Maher of NPR go on the air and utter the exact – same – talking point…saying their networks “report straight down the line,” Sorry, gang, that is kind of a tell.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – PBS

  • Making this argument is all the proof that they are not a valid source of news.

In his attempt at beating back at the executive order affecting his network, Jonathan Caperhart resorted to sheer idiocy. He tries to state that somehow the pulling of federal funds is an attack on the Constitution. Yep, he said that. Now, we could go through the trouble of detailing how pulling their subsidies is not silencing them, and how his claims of “independent journalism” fall apart as he demands they remain dependent on federal funding, but we’ll simply spell out his ignorance in a timeline fashion.

PBS was established in the 1960s, while the Constitution was written in the 1760s, almost exactly 200 years prior, so their losing out on free money cannot possibly violate that document.

News Avoidance Syndrome – MSNBC

  • If you failed to see what was down the hall as the entire country spotted it, that is not a good admission.

The revisionist history in the press regarding the shielding of Joe Biden’s sliding mental acuity continues – this time with a gem coming from a close associate. Jen Psaki was on a podcast with Ben Smith and tried to sell the concept that she, a woman who worked directly with Biden on a daily basis, never saw his mental decline until the debate. Now, we know this has to be utter garbage, but she needs to make this claim in order for her past denials and attacks on those noticing to hold up.

But even so, it flies directly in the face of the books that have come out with White House officials admitting to covering up his condition, and if she was honestly this oblivious to what was readily apparent to anyone with functioning eyes, it would make her a worse press secretary than even Karine Jean-Pierre.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – VANITY FAIR

  • We cannot even come close to making a comment that would do this justice.

In the annals of media offerings that were made purely to feed their audience prejudices and cynically generate traffic, it has to be this stunted attempt at outrage.

It has been a common trait to say that certain things taking place in the culture have been generated or popularized by the evil forces of Trump World, the extreme right, or merely just conservatism. Even when it is something mundane that just about anyone would engage in, if those on the right are doing it, too, it takes on a nefarious characteristic.

Thus, we have the intrepid columnist Keziah Weir declaring that there is a current popularity for consuming protein, and this hot “trend” has been provoked by MAGA.

The best is that she manages to take this idiocy to even newer depths when you see she offers up as proof of this hateful trend a number of links to stories touting protein consumption from those traditional “MAGA outlets” The New Yorker, Vogue Magazine, and The New York Times.
