Body Checking the Fact-Checkers – CNN
Who needs to do research when fact-checking, after all?!
At the EPA, Lee Zeldin is upsetting many in the press by cutting government waste. This, of course, is being sold as endangering the planet, threatening our health, and all manner of hysterical promises expected from the climate conspiracists. Then it is of no surprise this would rankle CNN’s sportscaster-turned-climate expert Bill Weir.
He came on with Kaitlin Collins to point out that the rollback orders the EPA sent out were filled with “typos and placeholders.” It was not clear just what this was supposed to have proven or disproven.
But we soon learn that – much like last week’s flawed claims that President Trump mistakenly called transgenic mice “transgendered” mice – there was no effort to reach out to those accused of being in error, and instead, Weir belched out this claim without researching it fully. Had he done so, Zeldin would have pointed out that he wasn't seeing a string of zeros, but the letter “O,” which accurately was a label for programs inside the EPA.
In other words, Weir was guilty of the very thing he was accusing, that is rushing out a report without having all the facts.
Another media “fact check” face plant where the fact checker doesn’t have the slightest clue what he’s talking about. “OOOO b/c” is not a typo.

Prose & Contradiction – CNN
More conflicting realities from CNN’s resident contrarian.
The past two weeks have been filled with press condemnation over how President Trump allegedly ambushed Volodymyr Zelensky in their White House meeting, especially with wild claims this was appeasement to Vladimir Putin. The press is looking bad with a peace agreement all but finalized now, but this becomes even more evidence of the news outlets resting – once again – on the bad side of the 80/20 issue position.
Recently, we saw CNN’s own Harry Enten arrive on the scene with data showing the general population taking a stance in opposition to the coverage seen on his network. So as CNN has been beating up Trump on his handling of the Ukraine crisis, Enten shows that previously there had been strong opposition to Biden’s efforts, and now a plurality of voters actually favor Trump’s handling of things.

They could not help themselves in trying to ruin another holiday.
It is one of the dependable aspects of our media complex – whenever a holiday arrives, some journalist needs to find a way to try to ruin it. This time it is St. Patrick’s Day, and at CBS News, they went in a unique direction.
Given the Irish holiday is nearly upon us, it strained to come up with a deportation angle, and frankly, it is enough to make us run for the Irish whiskey.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – THE BULWARK
You seem unclear about what your being shaken means.
Maybe the Columbia grads should refrain from commenting on this story. Sam Stein weighs in on the matter of Mahmoud Khalil being nabbed and up for deportation, stating how he is shaken by the development.
He bemoans the details in a New York Times piece declaring people are scrubbing all mention of Palestine to avoid falling under the attention of border officials, but he and The Times ignore all of the Hamas support expressed by Khalil and his organization, a convenient oversight.
