News Avoidance Syndrome – MSNBC

  • The honesty from management is deeply hurtful!

We covered yesterday how MSNBC decided to keep "Morning Joe" off the air Monday following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. The network was concerned that the hosts and panelists couldn't keep things civil following the event. The hosts appear to want to overlook the reality that they have been a hive of hostility. As it was explained by executives, "The decision was made to avoid a scenario in which one of the show's stable of two dozen-plus guests might make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to assail the program and network as a whole."

Well, today the crew returned to the airwaves, and suffice it to say, they were not pleased. Namesake host Joe Scarborough made his displeasure known and pledged that if it happened again, he would walk.

Reporting on the Mirror – NBC NEWS

  • Was your mirror grazed by a bullet, Jen?

One of the other decisions made by MSNBC after the Trump shooting incident was on Sunday they essentially shelved most of their opinion hosts in favor of a more straightforward news presentation. Yet, while Jen Psaki did not sit in her usual Sunday timeslot, she did appear on a panel with "Meet the Press."

She showed her home network may have made a wise choice.

In discussing the shooting, Psaki looked at the fact that Donald Trump was a millimeter from the potentially fatal results of a gunman and came to a conclusion – she is now in fear for her own safety.

Gilded Reframe – NBC NEWS

  • Soooo…this is not being shared with the same enthusiasm…? Interesting

There was plenty of excitement in the press (and plenty of head-scratching elsewhere) when a poll from Public Opinion Strategies came out days after the debate showing Joe Biden moving to a +3% lead over Donald Trump. Now comes word from the outfit that – OOPS! – they transposed the results, and Trump was, in fact, the one in the lead.

Well, no harm committed, save for everyone who shared that headline and never actually opened the polling report to see the accurate figures. At least one thing was accurate – naming this enterprise POS.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – NBC NEWS

  • Do not claim to be an expert when lying about the details.

Monday night saw the opening of the Republican National Convention, and Jacob Soboroff got the first interview with Donald Trump Jr. while on the convention floor. Soboroff thought he was challenging the son on his father’s policy of caging immigrant children and separating them from families. As has been long established, this was a practice begun by, and the photographic evidence derived from, the Obama administration.

As Don Jr. called out this fabrication, laughably Soboroff tried to dispute this fact: “I covered the family separation crisis,” he established before claiming in response to the Obama administration, “You know they didn’t do that, sir.”

Amazing.

Anti-Social Media – THE ATLANTIC

The fact that David Frum would use the immediate aftermath of the assassination attempt to lay into Trump with harsh criticism is of zero surprise. The last thing in the world Dave can tolerate is any modicum of peace or support to emerge around the man, so his victim-shaming is completely on-brand.

What makes this stand out however is that not only does he show an inability to act decent for a day or two but he is incapable of even remaining silent, he dares to mention "decent and patriotic Americans" in the process.

Imagine our surprise that the man who invariably would go to a rape crisis center to lecture victims on dressing properly to avoid future attacks has even met decent Americans in order to write about them.
