Reporting on the Mirror – LA TIMES

The Los Angeles Times is – like so many other news outlets – suffering significantly. The ownership is looking at enforcing its third round of layoffs since last summer, and the workers' union has gone without a renewed contract. So, just as the staff is facing these cuts, the union felt it was a fantastic idea to stage a one-day walkout this past Friday.

The paper is struggling, and the management is looking to trim the workforce; it is less than a brilliant idea to impact revenues further and anger those making decisions on who to let go.

Anti-Social Media – VICE NEWS

With tensions mounting between the U.S. Navy and the Houthis in Yemen, leave it to the brainiacs at Vice News to look sympathetically toward the enemy. The kids running that outlet into the ground felt it was a swell idea to feature one person there with an online presence with a glowing profile feature.

One member of the violent outfit has been working alongside the pirates and terrorists in the region, but Vice focuses on the "handsome influencer" aspect of this person, sounding almost sad and wistful that his social media account has vanished after becoming something of a viral sensation.

Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Now that Trump's nomination is all but secured, it's time to label the man as mentally damaged.

Just as soon as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis pulled out of the election, the news outlets sprung into action in a predictable fashion. Newsweek got in on the action, as has Mediaite, following the cues from the White House.

Jonathan Karl was full bore amazed at how bad Trump is performing as if Biden's mental faculties have not been a perpetual punchline for three years if not more.

Pathological Media Amnesia – NBC NEWS

  • "His words are an inherent threat to humanity - so allow us to repeat what he said!"

Let's flashback for a moment to the days leading up to Donald Trump being removed from social media. Recall how we had been told that his tweets, videos, and other forms of expression were dangerous and a threat to everything from our democracy to the safety of journalists, to the integrity of our Constitution, and even the sanctity of our airwaves. His removal from social media was cheered as saving the survival of the nation.

With that melodrama in mind, behold now as journalists – facing a Trump nomination – are perfectly willing to deliver to a vulnerable population the words of the most dangerous man on the planet!

Pulitzer Prize Nomination / Sports Reporting – ESPN

In another entertaining and dramatic playoff matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Swifties, the Bills narrowly lost when a last-minute field goal attempt by kicker Tyler Bass sliced wide, missing the chance to tie the game and send it into overtime.

At ESPN, it reports that Bass "laments" the missed kick – as if this is some sort of surprise. You mean to say he was not ebullient about their season coming to a crashing end?!
