We’re all in this fight together for the next 250 years of American exceptionalism.
During the Korean War, General Matt Ridgway prepared materials for his soldiers to explain why the US was fighting North Korea and also Red China. Whereas the need to fight World War II may have been self-evident, Korea was harder to explain. And while the US government put together “Why We Fight” films already in World War II, the need during a war just five years after the end of the global carnage was even greater. Imagine being a GI discharged and just beginning to enjoy life after the war. The US was becoming a world economic powerhouse and you wanted to enjoy your family and modern products. Then you are drafted and sent to the barren and freezing land of Korea. Oftentimes—as in Vietnam—soldiers did not understand why they were so far away fighting some strange enemy. General Ridgway understood that many fighters needed to understand the risks of global communism and that the spread of the ideology could directly affect the US and the American way of life.
There is an active effort to destroy the United States from within and from without. The players?
- Lefties who never cease to complain about all things American.
- Outside actors who would like to take the US down a peg in order to raise their own prospects
- Muslims who want to replace the Western government and way of life with Sharia
For the first category, let’s take Bruce Springsteen. His estimated fortune is $1.2 billion. He conveniently sold his catalog before the new Biden-era taxes came into effect. I still remember bootleg recordings from the 1980s where he was complaining that Ronald Reagan (whom he pronounced “Reegen”) would send his audience members to go fight some war somewhere. More recently, the old crooner had to make use of a teleprompter in order to give over some anti-Trump screed. He often likes to warble, “Nobody wins until everybody wins.” He certainly could give away half or more of his wealth and still enjoy breakfast in bed. I have not heard that he plans to unload his dough on those he claims are still waiting to win.
Bad global players abound from China to Russia and Iran. Europe is becoming problematic with its focus on controlling speech, specifically on US-based social media platforms. China would love for the US to go down the economic toilet so that it can dominate the world. The Iranians would like to deliver a nuclear warhead to the United States and get rid of the “Great Satan” and the permissiveness they associate with Western culture. Russia may be weakened, but she would not mind if the US had less of a footprint in NATO.
And at home, as in Europe, a non-negligible number of imported and local Muslims have made it clear that they have zero interest in being good Americans. Rather, they see their Muslim Brotherhood-inspired and Qatar funded calling to undo the West and extend the Sharia zone to the US and Europe. There are numerous ethnic groups in America, and until relatively recently, they mostly made an effort to become Americans while keeping cuisine, religion, dress, and other aspects of their former home cultures. Many Muslims are on record saying that they do not want to be Americans and rather want to destroy what we have taken to be the United States for the past 250 years. Why did Patterson, New Jersey, raise a Palestinian flag over city hall? The Palestinians have killed dozens of American citizens and have supported violence against Jews for decades. What is American about any of that?
The one thing that none of these groups has on their side is truth. Springsteen and his lefty buddies in Congress are ideologues whose slogans have no relationship to the actual workings of this world. We can see in real time as socialist/Muslim New York City Mayor Mamdani squanders New York’s wealth while not providing anything tangible for the improvement of Gotham’s citizens. China’s way of government is heavy-handed, to the point that if one falls afoul of officialdom, his “social score” may make it impossible for him to rent a house or even ride a bus. The Europeans are chomping at the bit to try such a program and thus reward the weak and punish anyone who gets out of the officially approved government line. And as to Muslims, Western democracy and more specifically an American republic are anathema to their religious-political system. Sharia would mean the end of American freedoms. Guys in women’s sports? That’s all you would have because the women would be locked up at home.
I recently saw a picture that says more than a thousand words, but my editor wouldn’t let me add so many more to what I have written above. The picture shows Dr. Edward Teller and Admiral Hiram Rickover at the helm of the ballistic nuclear submarine, Patrick Henry. This single picture says so much of what is right about America. Both Jewish men were born in Europe and legally came to America. Edward Teller was a key member of the Manhattan Project and is generally considered the father (or co-father with another Jewish immigrant) of the hydrogen bomb. Admiral Rickover remains the longest-serving member of the US Navy (63 years), and he is the undisputed father of the nuclear navy. Patriot and Founding Father Patrick Henry himself would have been pleased to see a nuclear submarine in his name, with the two fellows most responsible for its propulsion and weaponry driving his boat. What other country could boast of taking in such immigrants who contributed so much to the safety and progress of their new home? Admiral Rickover specifically stated that he went to the Naval Academy to express his thanks for his new country receiving him and his family fleeing hatred in Poland.
While the story above may involve famous and unique individuals, how many stories are there of new arrivals to the United States succeeding financially and socially in their new country? The US is an exceptional place and its people are amazing. When there is an international disaster, no country gives more aid or responds more quickly than does the United States. The United States is not perfect, but no country throughout history has been. The United States offers more than others and when you look at the fabulous wealth of a legal immigrant from South Africa, Elon Musk, you must admit that nowhere else could he have set up his constellation of companies and succeed as he has.
While the US is extraordinary, one cannot ignore the attempts of those at home who are trying to destroy her. Whether it be district attorneys who won’t prosecute criminals or let out violent individuals who go back to crime, or absentee parents whose kids take over shopping areas, there are serious societal problems that need to be addressed. The downward fall of religious observance in the West and in the US is reflected in too few children and lost values of right and wrong.
With so much good at stake and so many with a vested interest to tear it down, each must act. Vote, convince others to do the same, and let your voice be heard. We take the American Way as a given, but as we saw with Covid, it’s actually quite fragile when bad actors usurp their power over our lives. Appreciate the good that we have and safeguard it in any way you legally can. America’s goodness radiates outward, frightening dictators and offering hope to the oppressed. Israelis love the US and are grateful for its gracious support. It is for the betterment of this great country. That is why I write.
