The events unfolding in the United Kingdom are extraordinary and frightening. They are also the logical outcome of the demise of Western culture.
Three interrelated trends are currently going on in England:
-- Knife violence. The Brits pride themselves for total gun control. So knives are used in the place of handguns and rifles.
-- Arrests of British citizens. Some are arrested for participating in protests against the violence or more generally, immigration. Others are arrested or threatened with arrest for standing on the side of a protest. Still others have been charged and jailed for online activity, such as using certain emojis or retweeting various tweets.
-- British officials are threatening those outside of England with potential jail time. Specifically, Americans were warned not to put anything online that might inflame the situation on the ground; the threat specifically included a warning of future extradition. Additionally, an EU official warned Elon Musk over his talk with Donald Trump on X and its potential impact on the member states.
So what’s going on with England or more officially, the UK? The events ostensibly began with the murder of three girls at a Taylor Swift party; another girl was stabbed yesterday in the heart of London. One can point the finger at large-scale immigration that has changed the face of the country. The violence on the streets is ostensibly between “right-wing” white Brits versus Muslim immigrants. The police have chosen the side of the Muslims. The state and the press have also thrown their weight against the protesters, though they are British through and through.
The problems in the UK and the rest of the West are the outcome of their abandonment of the belief in their way of life. If Brits were still as Christian as their forefathers, they would highly regulate immigration into their country. They would also demand that newcomers accept the ways and customs of the locals. But churches are being closed, and the religiosity of the people is in constant, decades-long decline. If you don’t believe in something, you certainly will not defend it. The British no longer believe in the greatness of their country, which once boasted an empire second to none. They no longer believe in the basic religious tenets that made religion and religious beliefs central to the actions of the monarchy, government and citizenry. Less than a hundred years ago, a king had to abdicate the throne as it was a scandal that he planned to marry a divorced woman. What you have in England is your 21st Century secular state. And since there is nothing sacred, there is no reason not to overwhelm the country with foreigners and not ask said foreigners to abide by local laws and customs. And so traditional Englishmen stand by and watch large-scale marches by pro-Hamas protestors run through their cities. They see areas of large cities that are off-limits to non-Muslims. They see violence perpetrated by Islamic terrorists and realize that they willingly brought these people to their shores without demanding that they become British.
Rather than fix the problem by temporarily stopping immigration, expelling large numbers of people who entered the country illegally, and forcefully making legal immigrants British in their knowledge of the laws, proficiency in English, and acceptance of British sovereignty, they have decided to go after the locals. The police’s efforts are directed against citizens who are now branded as “right-wing” for simply wanting a country like they once had. They comb the Internet for any activity that might show support for those protesting in the streets. And they threaten the Yanks to stay out, because the Americans know a thing or two about free speech and could thus make trouble. The British officials refuse to address the root problems, as they are too difficult to address. How do you make a population become more religiously oriented? How do you get them to reproduce in larger numbers? How do you stop immigration and reverse it by ejecting large numbers of illegal entrants? These problems are deep. Easier to just arrest white people standing near a protest and throw in jail those who use social media in a non-threatening way. They are mowing the grass instead of ripping out the weeds.
One could sit back and say to hell with England. They created this situation and they are now suffering the outcome. But the left in the US would love to do the same. They would love to take away guns and throw people into jail for wrongthink. Look at the responses to Elon Musk’s conversation with Donald Trump. Wall-to-wall they came out against the two and claimed that Trump slurred his speech and that the whole thing was a disaster. But Musk holds the trump card, namely the 1 billion views and impressions from the unscripted conversation. The left in the US would love to arrest white people complaining about out-of-control immigration through the southern border or put up warnings that one wrong emoji about trans on Facebook could mean doing hard time in jail. The US left also does not believe in the founding principles and documents that have guided the country for nearly 250 years. They would also like to control what people can say online. One has to hope that the virus in England does not cross the ocean to America. Kamala Harris and her friends would be delighted to impose such draconian actions on MAGA Americans. England is a blueprint for them, not a nightmare.
The West cannot return to its leadership role unless it rediscovers its values. There are those who think that world leadership is moving after 500 years to China and other BRIC countries. I doubt it. China has its own massive problems, from low birth rates to governmental corruption and huge debt in its real estate sector. Russia and other up-and-coming countries are also tied up with internal or external problems. The West will lead, but the quality of its leadership and its ability to progress will be dependent on people returning to the ways that made these countries great. Bringing in millions of poor Mexicans may get them jobs but it turns America into Mexico. Controlled immigration, return to traditional American values including free speech, a strong military, and a thriving economy: these are vaccines against the dangerous virus overtaking the formerly great United Kingdom.
