If you read my earlier comment, this article by Gerson is completely dishonest. He cropped Ginsburg's quote and lied about the surrounding context. Read the article yourself, and you will see that Ginsburg did not come close to saying the we should eliminate undesirable people. So don't use her to defend some creep like Katz.

Whatever politics you may have or whatever your views on abortion or Ginsberg, she is correct. At the time, in the infancy of Feminism and it's goal to push through abortion, many views were expressed to argue for abortion. One of these was economic. It was argued that poor, single women and the children born to them, were an economic drain on the State's resources. It was argued, that if the children of the poor, and the unmarried were aborted, society would not have to pay for them and crime would go down and welfare would be eliminated, yada yada yada. Its one of your own ilk, Ruthie Ginsburg, that advocates using abortion to control the growth of people "that we don't want to have too many of". Katz is simply putting in his own preference (liberals); myself I would like to see all people who aren't at least 1/8 Polish (1 grandparent min) aborted, etc, etc.
Once you get something like abortion going, who gets aborted will always be decided by those with power and/or influence.

Gerson's piece is perhaps his worst, and he is one the worst. To accomplish his smear, he pulls a quote out of context, chops off the last sentence of her statement, misrepresents what she said earlier, and generally distorts the surrounding context.

However, I must stand on my remarks about the Christian dispensionalists and their elevation of jewish ZIONISM in their quest to put jewry on a pedestal because of the "covenant" that existed between God and the jews. Reading Ginsburg's opinions about abortion leads me to believe Jewish "intellectuals" are inherently self-destructive. They insist that they want the Jewish people to survive and flourish even in Israel surrounded by 25 million Muslims but I believe even in Israel abortion is legal.

Here's a wake-up call for Ginsburg and fellow Jewish liberals: Muslims don't believe or sanction abortion and are not known for birth control practices. Guess who's going to survive in the long run? The big problem with the abortion debate is that any time goods or services are made illegal they become monopolized by organized crime. This has been proven repeatedly by laws against alcohol, tobacco, drugs, prostitution, firearms,and the list goes on and on. I am old enough to remember the damage done to society before Roe v. Wade. There are better birth control methods, but prohibition is not the solution. A return to the days of back alley butchers using coat hangers is not acceptable. Roe v. Wade was bad law and an abuse of the Supreme Court's authority, but society is essentially better off.

On this thread people are expected to quote their sources in context to an understandable degree. So how is it that a journalist is interviewing a SCOTUS judge and neither has the professionalism to state their reference of thought? You are confused about the beliefs of Christians. There was always a remnant of Jewish believers that God protected. They, the remnant, will still recieve God's promises.
