Your fantasy about the conservative world READS well, it just has no base in fact!! The conservatives are against the government controlling the plans and the illegals having access to it! All you have to do, if you have half a mind, is look at any number of countries that have the government controlling their health care and you have long waiting periods and high taxes. Then yesterday it came out that the libs are adamant about giving coverage to illegals and before it's over, it will not have the phrase " for the ones that can afford it!". The real statistics are actually more complicated than either supporters or critics of health care reform are willing to acknowledge. Most polls do show what this columnist emphasizes--that a majority of Americans are satisfied about their own health care--and their own health insurance. However, polls also show that a majority believes the health care system needs major reform. The areas of reform usually mentioned have to do with cost and coverage. Conservatives, through their campaign of deception, have persuaded most Americans to reject Obama's proposals. This does not mean that the health care debate is over--it simply means that Obama's plan lacks majority support.

Does anyone out there remember what the telecommunications industry looked like before Deregulation? Over the last twenty years or so, long distance rates have dropped dramatically. In case some of you don't remember, it used to cost quarter a minute to call a city fifty miles away. Look at the industry today. It is one of the nation's strongest markets. It features constant innovation, low prices and ever-lowering rates (I just picked up a cell carrier for fifteen dollars a month - no contract.}

The Dem health care proposals obviously are "share the wealth" schemes to take from the middle class.

HR 3200 has "affordability credits" which mean the "poor" pay much less than hard working middle class families. The mid class subsidiezes the "poor" with that scheme.

A fine (tax) is proposed if a middle class person does not provide his/her own insurance.

A tax on insurance companies will lead to high premiums for health insurance for middle class people.

The middle class will suffer under the Dems plans.

Our country does provide health care for everyone-- it's the law. The sign saying so is up in every hospital and clinic. If you can pay for it, you will. If you can't, you get it anyway. We all pay for it. So give that tired old lie that no medical insurance means no medical care a rest. It doesn't convince anybody any more.

This writer fails to understand even the most basic concepts of the healthcare reform debate. It has nothing to do with the quality of care people are receiving - has anyone read anything to that effect? I haven't. It has to do with people who can not afford insurance, the financial burden they place on all of us, and the idea that a country as blessed as ours does not afford healthcare to all citizens. No matter how you feel about it, this writer adds nothing to the debate. Sounds like she's off in her own little world.

Public schools are socialist (government owned).
The public airways are socialist (government owned).
Public transportation is socialist (government owned).

I realized at least one of the reasons why when I was on vacation. I couldn't get any good radio stations so was listening to NPR. I listened for three hours to a series of shows 'discussing' the problem of our medical system. I counted twenty-one seconds of input from people who were in favor of a largely private system-- twenty-one seconds, and that was someone whose statement was immediately disproven and ridiculed. Small wonder NPR types believe what they do-- they've never listened seriously to any argument to the contrary.
