Hillary Clinton's Security Clearance Revoked Upon Her Own Request

In a letter released Friday, the United States State Department has revealed that former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's security clearance was revoked on August 30th upon her request.

In a letter given to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the State Department revealed that Sec. Clinton had her clearance removed on Aug. 30 along with "[f]ive others associated with Clinton, including longtime aide Cheryl Mills, who had their clearances revoked on Sep. 20, according to the letter. The aides were known as 'research assistants,' which allowed them to keep their clearances after their time at the department concluded," according to Politico.

Politico notes that nearly a year ago, "Grassley asked the department to investigate and review whether Clinton's aides still had security clearance."

As noted by the Blaze, Byron York of the Washington Examiner told Fox News that Sec. Clinton may have surrendered her security clearance as a way of taking cover for any malfeasance should she be disciplined for her handling of confidential and government emails as Sec. of State.

“Now I think the idea that ‘at her request it was ended’ gives her a way of saying look this wasn’t a disciplinary action, I no longer used it, it’s not something that is important to me anymore,” he told Fox News.
