On Crime and Fear, the Left Has a Problem With Reality

It's rich for a Leftist of any stripe to accuse conservatives of "acting terrified" when they are deeply offended by things like accurate pronouns, the American flag, and our Constitution. But it's 2026 and the Left lives and operates in a world that's an inversion of the reality in which the rest of us live.

The ad in this post is actually an Amber Alert PSA from the early 2010s, but one Leftist took it as capturing "conservative/Repub" culture.

I'm sure this is a nod to the Epstein files, of course, which is all sorts of ironic coming from anyone on that side of the aisle. Democrats have made it a plank in their political platform to protect criminals, including sex offenders, if their race and immigration status check all the right boxes. Just this morning, I wrote about how a Nebraska school district is warning young girls to use the 'buddy system' because the courts let Zachary Vinton out on bond. Vinton is accused of following girls as young as 11 years old with the intent of raping them. But our courts let him go on $2,000 cash bond, in case you wonder what the going price of girls' safety is around Omaha.

Last December, Augsburg University in Minneapolis attempted to protect Jesus Saucedo-Portillo from ICE. Saucedo-Portillo is a registered sex offender with a DWI on his record, and authorities at Augsburg tried to protect him and not the female students on campus or the residents of Minneapolis who might be impacted by his predatory behavior or drunk driving.

In Fairfax County, Virginia, Israel Flores Ortiz is a 19-year-old illegal immigrant who is somehow still allowed to attend the county's public schools, was accused of putting his hands between the legs of multiple girls on campus. That's sexual assault. Despite numerous complaints against him, Commonwealth Prosecutor Steve Descano's office wanted to release him from jail, and the district said it'd let Ortiz return to school if he were released. A month ago, another illegal immigrant, Angel David Rubio, was apprehended by ICE after he tried to have sex with girls as young as nine years old.

But this goes beyond sexual assault. A DHS employee was murdered in the street in DeKalb County, Georgia. Lauren Bullis was one of two women killed by "British national" Olaolukitan Adon Abel who shot Bullis multiple times, stabbed her, and was attempted to sexually assault her when witnesses pulled him off her body. He also shot and killed another woman and shot a homeless man, injuring him. Despite that, Abel's public defender said he should be released on bond because he's not a threat to the community. Lauren Bullis' family would disagree. As would the Angel Families of dozens of innocent Americans killed by illegal immigrants, or families of those killed by career criminals whom Democrats refused to throw in prison for any length of time.

Over the weekend, Shamar Elkins shot and killed eight children in Shreveport, Louisiana. It turned out Elkins had a felony charge in 2019 and was given probation. It also seems, thanks to a loophole in the law, that the sentence meant Elkins could legally own guns. Democrats did that instead of putting a criminal with a violent gun crime to his name behind bars for five years, as the law allows.

And just this past week, we learned that many people knew disgraced former Congressman Eric Swalwell was engaged in sexual misconduct and had been accused of rape for years. They said nothing and were content to let Swalwell not only stay on the Intelligence Committee after sleeping with a Chinese spy but also to keep him in Congress for decades, where he would continue victimizing women. It was only when Swalwell was harming their chances in the California gubernatorial race.

This is a complete inversion of reality, because reality does not serve the Left's political agenda. Therefore, pretend that normal people are the bad guys, and that what we're seeing and hearing with our own eyes and ears is a lie.

This is called gaslighting, and it's a form of psychological abuse, of course. This is akin to when the U.K. produced "Adolescence" about crime in the nation but made the lead character a white British boy instead of one of the migrants actually committing the crimes.

As I said, they spend every waking moment terrified of pronouns, Donald Trump, "Nazi dogwhistles," and men (who they all told us were all rapists just a few short years ago). But when conservatives point out the Left's very real, very deadly policies on immigration and crime, we're living in a delusion.

You can only gaslight people for so long before they start trusting their own eyes again. And right now, Americans are watching a political movement that excuses, minimizes, or outright ignores real threats, while obsessing over imaginary ones and elevating them.

Call it whatever you want — fear, paranoia, or partisan hysteria — but the truth is far simpler: conservatives are reacting to reality, and the Left is trying desperately to rewrite it.
