Mad Maxine: Damn This President

Mad Maxine: Damn This President

Well, she said that she would work every day to impeach the president. That he has no business being president, and that he is a “disgusting, poor excuse of a man.” She said that Donald Trump should be charged with obstructing justice. Oh, and how about the endless and unsubstantiated charges that the president has colluded with the Russians. Even the Huffington Post thought that was an overreach, reminding her on live television that there was no evidence of collusion, which she admitted. This person is Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who is a prime example of what a politician can get away with if they represent a deep blue (or red) district. I’m not saying that this is a bad thing. It’s merely a fact. If you represent a D+50 or R+50 congressional district, you can be an as unhinged as you like. In some ways, it could add to the zest of politics. Yet, for Ms. Waters, it’s an exercise in sour grapes. No, seriously—it’s becoming pathetic. She appears to be unable to let go of the 2016 election. In a video posted by American Mirror, she rants against the president at a Teamsters event. She declares that only Democrats have stood by union households, despite Republicans garnering healthy support with this demographic in past elections. She says that we’re in a constitutional crisis because…Trump is different from past presidents. She said he would never be presidential because he doesn’t respect the constitution, in her opinion. Oh, and damn this president because we’re not going to let him destroy organized labor. That’s Ms. Waters for you, folks (via American Mirror) [relevant portion begins as 7:49 mark]:

“We’re in a difficult time in this country,” Waters said during an appearance before the Teamsters union Local 630 in Los Angeles.

“We’re almost at a constitutional crisis in the United States of America,” she said, before changing her declaration and saying, “We’re at a constitutional crisis because we’ve got a president, the likes of which we’ve never seen before.

“You know, some people think his antics sometimes are funny, sometimes cute, sometimes unusual. And to say, ‘Well, you know, he’s going to learn to become presidential,'” Waters said.

“That’s a lie!

“He’s never going to be presidential,” she declared, waving her glasses at the silent audience.

“He’s never going to be presidential because he does not respect the Constitution of the United States of America and he is no friend to organized labor,” she said, unable to provoke a response from the crowd.

“It has not been Republicans,” Waters bellowed, “It is always Democrats. We’ve been there for you. We’re gonna stay there for you. And damn this president! We’re not going to let him destroy organized labor.”

Yeah, Trump has only positioned himself to possibly win a Nobel Peace Prize, but he’s presidential or something. He played a pivotal role in closing one of the last wars of the Cold War-era, but that’s not presidential. He passed a tax reform package that benefitted over three million American workers; that’s not presidential. He has created a better job creating and investment climate; that’s not presidential. Ms. Waters, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about—and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
