WATCH: North Carolina Senate Race the Most Expensive Ever

As of Monday afternoon, the combined spending of both Senator Kay Hagen (D) and challenger Thom Tillis (R) for the North Carolina senate seat is at a whopping $108,051,842.

This race has proven to be the most expensive senate seat in election history. A close second is from this year's senate election in Colorado. The Senator Mark Udall (D) and challenger Cory Gardner (R) election is priced at nearly $94 million.

Townhall spoke with Bill Allison, Editorial Director of the Sunlight Foundation, to find out if voters should be concerned about the growing influence of money in politics.
