The folks at The Associated Press might be getting a bit bored. The outlet published a report on Tuesday explaining how your pets are going to contribute to climate change.
This means that someday, we will all be immolated by a gigantic fireball as a result of your cats and dogs and the food you are feeding them.

The whole “pets are family members” idea isn’t just a sweet sentiment. Data shows that pet owners are increasingly buying food that resembles their own diets.
The trend toward refrigerated, “fresh” or even “human-grade” pet food can come with a price beyond the pet food budget.
One of the most climate intensive decisions we make is whether to own a pet. It’s for the same reason that humans have a big impact: They eat every day. And most of them eat meat. The environmental impact of meat includes the land the animal lived on, the food it ate, the waste it generated and other factors.
“What else do pets do? We have to feed them. I think that that’s why it’s number one,” said Allison Reser, director of sustainability and innovation at the Pet Sustainability Coalition.
But just like people, a pet’s impact on the planet can vary greatly depending on their diet.

The article further notes that feeding these furballs “accounts for more than a quarter of the environmental impact from meat consumption,” which “is equivalent to the pollution created from driving 13.6 million cars for a year, according to a UCLA study.”
One of the solutions the piece references is cutting down on the food people feed overweight pets.
Alison Manchester, assistant clinical sciences professor at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, further suggested a vegan diet for canines. She explained that these animals “can get plenty of protein and the right balance of protein without actually ingesting any meat.”
She also recommends using pet food purchased at the store instead of making it for them at home.
Of course, these experts suggest adopting pets rather than buying from breeders and considering the size of the pet. It’s better to buy chihuahuas instead of Rottweillers because they have less of a carbon pawprint.
At first glance, this might sound like a silly report, but I believe it is part of a more sinister agenda. You might think I’m a bit crazy, but stay with me on this.
At the end of the day, the folks pushing this nonsense want only one thing: To control you. Environmentalists and animal rights activists desire to eventually see a time when the government can control the types of pets you own. We already see this with local governments in rural areas that arbitrarily limit the number of chickens one can own.
But even further, there is the meat issue. Folks on the hard left have been pushing for policies to limit or damage animal agriculture because of their methane output. Remember Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) Green New Deal and its concerns over “cow farts?”
These people wish to control what kind of food you eat — and they really don’t want you chowing down on a ribeye for dinner. It makes sense, then, that they would try to get people to give their cats and dogs a more vegan diet.
There is also the advent of lab-grown meat, which has become a topic of controversy, with several states banning the product. I believe people should be allowed to purchase and consume whatever type of food they wish, which is why I oppose banning it.
However, if the authoritarians on the left ultimately get their wish, the government will force people to eat lab-grown meat and own fewer pets. When they can control the food, they can control the populace.
Of course, I’m not saying everyone who promotes a vegan diet is part of this agenda. But I have no doubt that this is where we are headed if we are not diligent about what these people are pushing.
