Democrats Just Got a Dire Warning That They Will Probably Ignore

PJ Media

A group of moderate Democrats is trying to take their party back from the far-left ideologues who are currently controlling the inept messaging of the movement. After the Democrats’ devastating losses in the 2024 election, the party is trying to find its way while continuing to repeat the same mistakes that propelled President Donald Trump into his second term.

A group called “Welcome” published the findings of a study demonstrating that the Democratic Party’s leftward shift is alienating voters and enabling Republican victories. The authors contend that only by moving back toward the center can the party finally become relevant again.

The authors start by sounding the alarm on Trump and the Republican Party, accusing them of “damaging our economy and threatening our democracy.” They slammed the GOP over the tariff issue, claiming they “are raising prices, hurting businesses, and costing jobs” while paying for “tax cuts for the rich by cutting health care for the poor and massively increasing the national debt.”

The authors further argue that the only way for Democrats to win victories is to stop taking ridiculous positions on the issues Americans care about and start coming up with actual solutions to the problems people are facing. They recommend that Democrats “listen more to voters and less to out-of-ttouch donors, detached party elites, and Democratic poltiicians who consistently underperform the top of the ticket.”

The party must alter its messaging in a way that shows it cares about everyday people, the report emphasizes. This includes focusing on “an economic program centered on lowering costs, growing the economy, creating jobs, and expanding the social safety net,” among other ideas.

Researchers analyzed a large treasure trove of data, surveying over 500,000 voters. They found that “support for Democrats has declined significantly among working-class and minority voters since 2012.” They noticed that moderate and conservative voters have driven these losses, which shows how damaging the leftward tilt in messaging has been to the party. It notes that a “supermajority of Americans (71% per Gallup) identify as moderate or conservative.”

Democrats have lurched further to the left on “essentially every issue,” including climate change, abortion, and identity politics. The share of voters who believe the party is “too liberal” has skyrocketed since 2012. Meanwhile, the percentage of Americans who view the Republican Party as “too conservative” has gradually dropped.

The report features a chart showing how Democrats’ rhetoric has shifted further to the left. In its platform, there was a 1,137 percent increase in references to various races and ethnicities, including White, Black, Latino, etc. It showed a 1,044 percent increase in mentions of LGBTQ issues and an 86 percent increase in references to racism. There was a 725 percent increase in discussions on gun control.

Yet, discussions of economic issues dropped by 48 percent in the party’s platform, while mentions of the middle class fell by 79 percent. Mentions of crime dropped by 30 percent.

You’re seeing the pattern here, aren’t you?

As it turns out, focusing your messaging strategy on convincing the nation that men can become women and vice versa isn’t exactly a winning tactic. Neither is pretending America is hopelessly racist while trying to restrict gun ownership. The same is true of the incessant screaming about how bad the Orange Man is.

Sensible Democrats have their work cut out for them. Their party is still dominated by far-left ideologues who only want to discuss issues that most Americans don’t even care about. They have still not learned their lesson — and at this point, it’s unlikely they will any time soon.
