When I refer to Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre as Canada's next Prime Minister, that's purely aspirational at this point -- though it's not an unfounded hope at all. Our Northern neighbors' next elections haven't even been called yet, but current public opinion polling suggests his party is currently on track to win a resounding victory. We've told you about Poilievre on a few occasions, noting his oratorical skills and effectiveness at pushing back against biased members of the media. We've also highlighted the Trudeau government's dreadful policy posture on the Israel-Hamas war, which has harmed the pluralistic democracy's fight against its genocidal terrorist enemy. If Poilievre wins, Israel will have a much stronger ally, and terrorists will have a much tougher foe, in Canada.
At a pro-Israel rally in Toronto this week, the Conservative leader gave a six minute speech that hit all the right notes. When was the last time we heard our own president speak with this level of clarity and passion on this fundamental struggle between civilization and barbarism?

Poilievre opens by boiling down the divide to its essence:
"Friends of humanity, Jews, Gentiles, people of all backgrounds, Canadians -- all people of decency -- stand against the homicidal, genocidal death cult that is Hamas. A death cult that must be destroyed so that we can free the hostages and restore peace for all."
Clear, unapologetic, accurate. He affirms his strong support for free speech and expression -- a refreshing departure from Trudeau's growing authoritarianism -- but makes clear what doesn't qualify:
"I believe in freedom of expression. I believe you can express any opinion that you want, whether or not it is one with which I disagree. But that does not include the right to firebomb synagogues, to harass Jewish school children, to go outside of Jewish hospitals and terrify the patients coming in and out. That is not freedom of expression."
This must have been music to the ears of Canada's Jews, who have watched in horror as pro-Hamas mobs have bullied and menaced them since October 7th. And as Poilievre also points out, perhaps in a dig at the obsession with achieving a "ceasefire" at all costs, there was a ceasefire in place on October 6th. The savages of Hamas, and their Iranian patrons, don't care about such things:
"Six months ago -- plus one day, on October 6th. What did we have? We had a ceasefire. What did we have? Hamas was governing in Gaza. Israel was not even in Gaza. Israel had withdrawn its population and its forces from the Gaza territory, and Gaza was ruled over by the iron fist of Hamas, in remote control by the tyrants of Tehran. The dictators in Iran who have been supplying Hamas with its weaponry, its logistics and intelligence. And in this atmosphere, where there was a ceasefire, where Gaza was not controlled in any way, shape or form by Israel, an unprovoked attack was unleashed on October 7th, designed to commit the maximum human and civilian devastation, in acts of cruelty that cannot even be spoken from this stage -- with sadistic delight by those who undertook them. The Israeli government and the Israeli people have not only the right, but the obligation, to defend themselves. And to fight back, and to lead to the destruction of Hamas."
I'd suggest President Biden take notes, but it seems he's too busy trying to figure out whether his latest ceasefire demands on Israel actually require Hamas (which has rejected every offer) to release whatever hostages they haven't yet killed. And he's too busy trying to cravenly pander to these people and their friends:
