Vice President Mike Pence's plane was forced to head back to Washington on Tuesday following an undisclosed emergency. He was en route to New Hampshire for an event on the opioid epidemic.

Pence's press secretary Alyssa Farah and other White House officials said the situation was no cause for alarm.

Other officials have reportedly told the press that this has nothing to do with Pence's health or national security.

Before his plane had to back track, Pence was to participate in a roundtable discussion with patients at the Granite Recovery Center headquarters in Manchester, NH.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated accordingly.
